rain moved over us tonight as I was on the back half of the route. all cats were fed so I cut the search short as it chased me home, but by then I had already picked a well-scattered $1.09, keeping that good vibe rolling. $5.89 over 6 days is not too bad. that's just under $1/day avg.

nice job on getting the cats fed, the money rolling in and beating out the rain.

well... it rained about two hours ago and looks like more rain incoming.. obviously tonight will be swampy & humid... again. I'm not getting my hopes up for tonight. i'll be lucky enough to just find all the cats, get them fed & get back to the apt. without getting soaked or stuck somewhere waiting for the rain to stop. finding any money tonight will be a challenge. edit, 3:54am and it was. I thought I was going home totally empty-handed tonight. right after I fed the last cats it began sprinkling and I had zero in my pocket. all parking lots were inundated, so no searching those, all I had were a few stops that didn't involve parking lots... ice machines, water machines, soda machines and air-vacs, and not too many of them... which was a good thing, ultimately. after the first round of sprinkles I didn't get too wetted, but I was not dawdling, I wanted to get home before the next round.. the last stop included an ice & water machine, where I scored the night's only picks: two quarters and a bottle of circle k purified water. good enough for a rain night, i'll take it. fifty cents and a water for tomorrow's coffee.

Better than nothing, MrPink, and the coins you didn't get to in the parking lots may have spawned more.

yep. the good vibes continued tonight. we had a few light sprinkles earlier on wednesday afternoon, but nothing serious. I did not have to race or dodge the rain tonight, so with the help of $1.13 in assorted change that I found at an air-vac, I picked a total of $1.67. it keeps piling up.

last night I picked just eighty cents, I couldn't really do the entire route due to too many people hanging around in my search areas, but tonight I picked $2.08, my first $2+ night in quite a while, I don't remember having a $2+ night at all last month, but I could have... I just don't remember. tonight's grab was the usual well-scattered change, including a minor spill of fifty-five cents near the doors into the winn-dixie, plus four quarters from an ice machine coin return: metals prices are rising faster than I can find $treet $timulu$. prices are flying away from my running total. for anyone who watches the metals' spot prices... something I noticed over the summer and then forgot about until gold recently poked up past the $4K-mark... my running total (the grand total, since 2018) has been sitting at $3,350 since the conclusion of the previous cycle, cycle 17, which ended on black friday last year. the spot price of gold had risen to the same $3,350-level by april and spent the april-august period bouncing above & below $3,350 in a narrow range until it finally broke through in late august... and it just kept going. I've been a little dismayed at watching the gold price continue to rise, easily outpacing my accumulated nightly finds. I've been deleting certain things from my various online shopping carts, mostly the many 1/10oz gold coins that I've been considering. overall, many of their prices have surpassed my anticipated accumulation of around $440-$450. I wrapped a roll of quarters earlier today and am about to wrap a roll of dimes tonight, which puts my current running total for this cycle at $431. a 1/10oz coin will gobble up all of my accumulated street money. I really wanted to get a 1/10oz gold coin plus a 1oz silver coin. I don't know if i'll be able to do that by black friday. it really depends on what I find in the next five or six weeks, as black friday is now just 6 weeks and 6 days away, and what sales I can find on black friday. I still have many options, but I may have to settle for a smaller gold piece. time will tell. additionally, I tend to keep an eye on other things I've acquired in the past using $treet $timulu$, just to see where the current prices are.. like the 1853 quarter eagle from the first cycle in 2018. I paid $320 for it then and it's price now has about doubled. same with the 2024 1/10oz gold libertad proof from cycle 17. I bought that for about $330, but that same coin's price today is again about double what I paid. the quarter eagle's price took 7 years to double. the libertad's price took less than a year to double. if my nightly finds continue to accumulate as they have, I should be able to wrap another roll of quarters, dimes and nickels and maybe 2-4 rolls of zincolns by the middle of next month. that would put the running total up to around $450. so for now I'm going to continue with my projection of $440-$450. hopefully some FRNs will make their way onto my route in the next several weeks. I think it's been about 5 weeks since the last buck in the wild. pardon all the babble. it's just stuff I think about night after night.
