By the way, story time, the Voyageur reverse was the intended design for the new $1 coin replacing the note. It's a mystery how, but the original dies were "lost". So the mint had to come up with a new reverse design.....hence the Loonie......to stymy the potential counterfeiting if it was continued as the Voyageur. So this lost/stolen/destroyed/thrown in a lake/buried in keith's rock garden in the back 40 set of dies....gave Canada the Loon dollar. My user name just might have been......... voyageurlewy. Ok, next up...  Since it is likely we are dealing with a date range, several locations come to mind... China, Japan, elsewhere..., so, Is this coin issued anywhere in Asia?  |
