Me too Paralyse, I hope my dime met with your specifications! Wear is definitely becoming more usual on our coins, now we have gone back a whole century. We are now up to showing coins that are 100 years old. They should be getting a Telegram from her Majesty!  Here is a pair of happy Belgians, I say that as I know the Walloons and Flemings are not that happy together!   French language 25 centimes, and Dutch language (Flemish) 10 cents. 1920 was an important year in the Kingdom as the 1920 Olympic games were in Antwerp.  I agree about La Semeuse and have some coming up - the stamps are pretty awesome too. Edited by Princetane

1920 was the year British silver was reduced from 0.925 to 0.500 fine. The earlier coins remained legal tender but were increasingly hoarded as their metal content began to exceed their face value. 1920 British halfpenny, shilling and florin:    |

Nice coins - very clean and no gungy wear! Here is my last coin for 1920, unless I get lucky tomorrow with the mail (The coin year runs from 4pm to 3.59pm our time in New Zealand).   It's a pair actually, penny and halfpenny - both in standard Fine condition. Unlike the silver coins, the bronze was unaffected as copper prices remained fairly low. After WW1 what you could buy with a penny was a lot less. A letter cost 1d before the war, now it was 1˝d and same with newspapers in many cases. Seems piffling, but that was a 50% increase and in 1920 a penny had the buying power of about 50 - 80 cents in our modern money. |

@pepactonius, great lineup for 1920! I love that Senegal coin (or token?) and the "proto-Yugoslavia" coin. I was unaware that principality existed between the wars. And thanks for the answer on Sedalia. There is a small state park just west of there where I spent a night occasionally when travelling to Colorado to visit my son. I have a notgeld coin from the German city of Zeitz for today:   |
