I get to learn a lot about Commonwealth coins in this thread - thank you @Princetane, and others, for making it so educational! Most of my coins are from another colonial power... French Indochina 1908, 1 piastre.The piastre de commerce was a trade coin and was minted with this design 1885-1928. Its size, weight and silver content (stated on the coin as 27 g and 0.900) is very close to a dollar, but it was modeled after the Mexican 8 reales which was an established currency in Indochina (and many other places).
