Just one coin from me for 1905 (Well I have the usual pennies and things, but don't really want to show superworn ones).   Sorry for over exposed shot, these coins have some white metal with that silver. It's a teensy 5 Kopecks of the Russian empire, nice aEF/EF condition and a really small coin that weighs barely 1 gram and just 15mm in size. It's so small and low value, a copper 5 Kopecks was also issued and this is huge in comparison. Edited by Princetane

Lovely selection! 1905 British halfpenny - the fingerprints on the obverse are not mine!  British silver coins dated 1905 are scarce - this explains the condition of those in my collection! Shilling:  Florin:  Halfcrown. The key date. Mintage 166,000:  |

If you ask me, those 1905 coins of yours are great. The halfcrown is almost fine and probably pretty valuable (Mid Hundreds), the Halfpenny is a stunner (Shame about that oily fingerprint) and the rest are pretty nice.
All I have is a beaten up penny of that year so far.

It cost me £140 in 1981 with a lot of other pre-1920 silver coins, some 1920-46 silver and 1950 and 1951 pennies thrown in!  They were in two very old 1960s coin albums but strangely there was no PVC damage - I think the albums must have had mylar pockets. Here is my 1905 Maundy Set. I bought this with the penny missing, and sourced a penny later - that's why the penny doesn't match the other coins.   It's quite easy to make up late Victorian and Edward VII Maundy sets if you're missing a coin or two, as they were issued in much larger quantities than earlier or later issues - until 1908 anyone could order them from the Mint, but now they are restricted to the Maundy recipients (except for a few occasions when they've been included in annual Proof sets). |

Beautiful coins - I only seem to have one Maundy coin at the moment - a One penny from 1857 and its actually quite worn (VF or so). The coin appears in the small coins thread, a few months back. Ironically on Trade me recently was a 1687 Maundy set of James II with Roman numerals on the coins. It was about $1000 or so and still unsold. How do you tell the Maundy 3d apart from regular circulation 3d's issued before 1928 though? I had a lot more coins in my original 1991 - 2001 collection that got stolen and now are very much replacing a lot - only been serious on UK since January this year. For instance today managed to upgrade my G6 and E2 Halfcrowns and Florins with a bulk lot which had most G6 dates in gVF condition or better and EF QE2's a 1957 Half crown I thought was a 67, because it was so nice. I suspect my Florin is 1903, 05 or 08 as you can see a bottom ligature, but will show it in 1903, the most likely date. I have a few more coins for the next few years - so later posts here may actually include coins to go with the yakkety yak  Edited by Princetane
