Welcome to 1870, 150 years ago.

Here is one of my best pieces of this era.

Less nice, but still an interesting piece, an 1870 Spanish peseta issued between the end of Isabel's reign and the period before Amadeo.

Spain was briefly ruler less between 1869 and 1875 (Some don't count Amadeo as a proper king, and Alfonso X11 became king only in 1874 or 1875 - don't quote me I know little about Spanish rulers)

Again this 150 year old coin is a bit holey.
I like how it mentions 200 of these peseta coins will weigh a kilogram - so they were probably used as weights at the local bodega and mercado as well.

Gold coin bump - nice coin erafjel!

I like it too - as it came from a big junk collection I bought along with a very nice Peruvian sol I will show tomorrow. I love how the 7 has been tacked in, as it was obviously a 6 there until very recently when they engraved the dies.

You will all see some great lowball coins from me in the 1860s - I have a selection of Louis Napoleon and Victor Emmanuele sliders to knock your socks off.

Here is some more well used Spanish currencies, this time centavos in bronze.

Again we have the emphasis on weight. And I can work out the Spanish ratio was 20:1 for silver - bronze coins and that 1 centavo = 1 gramo.

These two are not too bad and I like that they are quite historic.

Just for you NumisRob, my own lowball 1870 penny. (Love that Gothic Florin )
