Someone was loving those sixpences back in the day!

They are definitely the most worn of all the coins

Must have been using them in the Christmas puddings, :)

Nice group Steve, again you see my point, super worn sixpences. Those Christmas puddings were greedy and ate them up!

Here is my 1918 just 3 silver coins

Decent but recently cleaned shilling (The bits of black show it out, the cleaning was NOT done by me).

Really, my post clearly shows in order

1. The Shilling
2. The Threepence
3. The Florin
I don't have any of the other coins (Like most 1910s coins of Australia, my examples are patchy).

Think I found out why I like Australian coins so much!

Doing family tree research and on my Maori side, I have Australian convicts. Yes the man was a second fleeter from Ireland and the woman was a first fleeter from London. Yes deported on the Sirius. They got married in Parramatta in 1794 (Probably the womens jail, as he was on a ticket of leave by then).

Their son came to Noo Zillund and married a local girl and swirled up the family tree

So I guess I am a true blue Aussie now and dyed in the wool Aussie - not this I showed up in 1969 stuff.

Fair dinkum.

Fascinating family history, Princetane! I have Australian ancestry, but from Tasmania!

Here I am at my great-great-grandfather's grave in Hobart Cemetery:

Cool shot NumisRob, I don't think mine will have a grave marker, as they died in 1839 and 1840.

My 1917 back to 1914 is very sparse, mainly shillings and the occasional silver piece. From 1913 backwards I have a few more coins.

Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition
1917 I have 2 shillings, 1 is in Fine or better condition, other is high Good to near VG (Could be different types I don't know) and a very stained and worn Threepence

Australian-And-New-Zealand-Coins,-How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go---First-Edition

Heads shot shows how much wear the second shilling piece and threepence have!
