It's not a great grade but these are pretty rare, I think. -The grade is not what strikes me but rather the fact that it looks washed (& maybe bleached) since the colour/design is faded. That's what's nice about your Rhodesian Pound: honest wear (but not faded & it's unlikely that it has been washed). The 5 /- note posted has a Numista Rarity Index or NRI score of 84 which means its quite "tough-rare" (few collectors own it & fewer wish to trade it). I have struggled to find an EPQ example of the revised 1960's series (probably the P-37 5 /- which I believe is the easiest NRI of 72). They're all quite tough to find with EPQ or in higher grades. That's interesting walk2dwater. I didn't even think that it might have been washed! Luckily, I think I got it for an okay price.

Even the Numista 5 /- example (linked above) looks washed. I use higher grade examples on ebay to compare with as my litmus test. That, or use a "specimen" example- sometimes helps. Check this KG VI 5 /- example on Numista: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/note267530.html That example demonstrates the typical colour of that denomination. The colour for a VG to F example might be slightly faded from that Numista VF KG VI example but not by much (expect VG to be more soiled/worn looking). On the first page of this thread I posted a 1935 $20 note (featuring Princess Elizabeth) that is VG-F with stains but original colour. https://goccf.com/t/412847I bought it b/c I was amazed that it had not been processed (washed or pressed) as the majority of those $20 have had the tide treatment (unfortunately) in an effort to bump up the price. It's not the prettiest $20 example (with the writing/stains) but at least she's original. |

I thought I had already added this green $5.00 P-20a I picked up from Bahamas. It was one of my last notes won from Worldbanknote Auctions. Once I looked over this thread, I realized I had not added it so here it is:   It's a very pretty note but often hard to find: & now that I have it, I want the more common revised orange-red variety! I once saw a scarce "3 signature" variety, bid on it, but it sold for a " king's ransom" & I backed off way before that happened. The reason this note's colour scheme was changed to red was because it was getting confused with the similar looking $1.00 note. Edited by walk2dwater

Inspired by walk2dwater's fabulous collection, I thought I'd share this unusual denomination I just picked up. Apparently $3 at the time was roughly the equivalent of 1 pound sterling which helped smoothen the transition to decimal currency. I love the De la Rue designs of this era.  |

Here's a P14h(2) I actually picked up in commerce at my business a few years back. Customer asked if I'd accept it and I was very happy to do so! More beautiful guilloche patterns and multicoloured tints from De la Rue, and the regal Annigoni portrait of Her Majesty makes this one a winner to me.   |

(I too am a fan of the Annigoni portrait). It reminds me of one of my first auction wins:  I know this is a pretty common note so I made sure I bought the $20 too. It is P-15g, one of the last TWENTIES issued without an overprint letter. https://en.numista.com/219645I also won this 1993 series $20 issued out of Anguilla.  I had just read an article on the release of the 1993 series which stated that some of the issues (suffixes) were tough & "U" (for Anguilla) was one of those to seek. I now have all of the denominations ($5 - $50) except the $100. Not sure whether I'll get that one. Quote:
