I purchased an AH 766 from NumisMall, but it's not in hand as yet, so I probably won't be playing it in this edition. I believe @JohnConduitt has one, and perhaps sly-fox @andyg may have one put aside for 1365 C.E.

Looks like this thread might be on track to progress quite a bit this year, or indeed this month... depending on how much @JohnConduitt and @andyg have hiding under their (metaphorical) sleeves, of course.
My next definite entry is 734 AH = 1334 AD, but I might have some 1350s or 1360s coins hiding in my random old coin pics. I'll try to post a few promising candidates for ID, but I'm not sure how much ID is doable without any measurements.

Quote: Here's one with a pretty clear date. Quite an undersratement I will sneak in this Hungarian denar which I understand is attributed to 1366 in either Huszar or E.H.:

Quote: In practice the Julian/Gregorian difference is small enough that the in-betweener years (where it's unclear where the majority is) always end up between a year that is unambiguously mostly in X AD and a year that is unambiguously mostly in X+1 AD. Of course one of those might not (according to one of the conversion) actually occupy the majority of the corresponding AD year, but IMHO that doesn't matter if the majority of the AH year is within that AD year. For comparison, if we had a coin dated between (say) October 1307 and May 1308, shouldn't we count it for 1308 even if that wasn't a majority in either year? Ah, yes, that's a good point. I was thinking about the issue backwards. I was thinking about a AH year covering most of a CE year, rather than if an AH year falls mostly in a CE year. So I think my suggestion didn't really solve anything? I am very visual when it comes to calendars, so I think that DateConverter link will be very helpful for me. This is the converter that I've been using. It's seven days off from the one that ttkoo uses, IIRC.

I have decided to play my AH 766, now that it has been excellently covered by @JohnConduitt. Who knows if I will get the opportunity to show it in the future. 1365 / AH (76)6 billon tanka G&G #D474 photos and date mark up by NumisMall, CAI'm fairly certain that type G&G #D474 was only issued for years AH 762 - AH 767. This helps to identify my coin by date.

Quote: If we're being really picky about this, the AD dates we're using don't allow for the switch from the Julian to Gregorian calendars either... To be honest, I have tried to avoid thinking about that or bring it into the conversation. Meanwhile...
