This is the only date that this coin was minted during the reign of King George IV, and was also the first year this denomination was produced. The fractional farthing coins were intended principally for providing exact change in British colonies where coins from different countries or from earlier currency systems were circulating alongside UK coinage. This coin was struck primarily for use in Malta.
