Here's another foray into the Modern US Commemorative Coin Series - for the trio of coins of the 2011 US Army program: a Copper-Nickel (CuNi) Clad Half Dollar, a Silver Dollar and a Gold Half Eagle. The coins were to be struck "in recognition and celebration of the establishment of the United States Army in 1775, to honor the American soldier of both today and yesterday, in wartime and in peace, and to commemorate the traditions, history, and heritage of the United States Army and its role in American society, from the Colonial period to today."       Once again, I went with the Uncirculated versions for my collection. The Silver Dollar is particularly "satiny." I was surprised that a Young Collector's Set was not produced as part of this program.
