The set is looking good.
People are indeed an odd bunch.

Thank you, scopru.
Not just odd.... But sometimes a bit nonsensical. My guess is they wanted to make their money back since it seems like a wasted purchase, and not one that LCS would be interested in.

Very nice set you are assembling! and I agree, buy from someone you can trust and have some sort of guarantee you get the coin or money back if you don't (the price he is asking for is not far of the mark, but can you trust him?

Quote: they sounded like they were offering to just give me the coin if I wanted it. Maybe their fingers were not keeping up with their brain? So, "had an extra 1912-S that I could have if I wanted it" was supposed to be "had an extra 1912-S that I could have for a good price if I wanted it." Some conversations are better had face to face.

Perhaps. Some people are unfortunately not that smart.
So I have been trying to mull over how to deal with the proofs for awhile now. I have an idea, if I decide to get into the proofs later on.
Purchasing a blank cents album, which consists of four pages. I had considered combining the proofs, which are mostly Memorial cents, with Shield cents. This way, I could have them all comprised into the same album.
I'm not sure, though. I think before doing anything like adding the proofs in a separate collection, I'd like to finish this album first. But I think it's a good idea. I don't like the idea of adding so many different albums. This way, I can keep my current album the way it is, as I like it, and have only one additional album. I may do this for nickels as well.
I am no longer working on two #7100 albums and I plan on trying to sell my extra one eventually.

Instead of a blank cent album could you go with a Dansco 7104? It's a two page album but the last page is blank and add the proof pages to the end of that one. That way you have all the dates covered and the proofs in just two albums

I mean, I could. But the thing is, if I'm gonna do proofs, I'm gonna do all of them, Shield and memorial.
If I was gonna go that route, I would go with the 8104 album, since it's a three page album. However, the 8104 album and blank cents album in reality are basically the same price. They are both around 40-50 dollars wherever I look. So, the blank cents, given that I'd be getting an extra page, is somewhat of a better value. Also, I like the fact that I can arrange the coins any way I choose, label-wise. The 8104 album includes two labeled pages for business strikes/proofs, and then one additional blank page. The 7104 only has two pages IIRC.
If I do proofs, I'm not doing the wheat proofs due to how expensive they are. I mean, some in the mid to late 50's are pretty affordable. I might add some of those in my 7100 as coin upgrades. But outside of that, I'd do Memorial and Shield cents primarily.

The more concurrent sets you have, the more difficult it is to finish them. I have been deliberate in the past to only get more albums after others were mostly settled—at least down to the more expensive holes.

This is what I did at the end of my 8100 Cent album: (I will be rearranging them a bit as the spaced I reserved for the 1936 to 1942 proofs will be eliminated as I bought them in PCGS Slabs (and will stay that way) That will give me 7 holes to fill with more of the proofs dated for this album (8100) that I had placed at the end on my 8104 album. 8100 album 8104 album

Dearborn, did you duplicate the 81 Type 1 proof that is in the album? Was it just for consistency? Surprised you hadn't plugged in some extra raw SMS coins to fill the slabbed labels

Looks good, Dearborn. Very nice quality coins. Much better than me.
I had thought about trying to get my hands on some of the Satin finish cents. I'm not entirely sure what years they were minted, though.

The satin coins were issued in the Uncirculated coin sets from 2005 to 2010
I just night extra uncirc sets and I had all the satins for all the coins

Awesome!
Is it hard to tell the difference on average between regular business strike cents and Satin finish cents?
