Thanks, jbuck! I ordered this from ebay today. Didn't think it looked too bad and still has some of the detail in Liberty. I'm guessing it would be G/VG. The seller didn't use a stock photo though, so it's nice to actually expect the coin I'm seeing. This is their photo from the listing. Not too bad for 5 bucks. The XF specimen runs around 20 bucks, which I will purchase in this grade sooner or later. I can use this as hole fillter until then, and put it in the duplicate page later on I gotta say, it's also nice to be able to kind of cherry pick the coins that you think are nice and what you wanna pay. Just takes a little work. Where I can get F-XF coins I will, but I will go G/VG as long as they look good and have decent detail. Some of the coins before 1900 are a bit pricey, so that will definitely take some cash and searching around from both ebay and coin shops. But, even with the key dates, I really don't think it isn't anything that's not doable. It will just take some time and patience!

Thanks, Dearborn. Quote:wow, very nice 'Start' of this collection! - I didn't even start one of these yet. Now to try to figure out just how I missed this topic for 2 days.. Might have missed it because it's in the classic and colonial coins? The modern coin forum seems to have noticeably more traffic. Yeah, even though I started purchasing Liberty nickels here and there awhile back, I think now when I say "start" I kind of mean in more of a serious endeavor. I also like the fact that not many people seem to be inclined to do Liberty nickels. I really haven't seen too many of them on here or in general. It seems to be mostly Jefferson and Buffalo nickels.

I am currently eyeballing this coin. I might have to purchase it when payday comes. Examples like this are why I really love this coin. Quote:Nice purchase Thanks, EV

Quote: nice additional additions you posted since I last posted here Thanks, dearborn. Quote:Good luck! Not anything too crazy, but I purchased a new empty binder today from ebay. It's just a blank Dansco binder that holds 2-4 pages. It was considerably cheaper than purchasing a new blank nickel album. Half the price! My OCD gets the best of me sometimes, but I'm not really a fan of how large the Dansco coin stock binder is. It's designed to hold a ton of pages, which obviously, I don't need.

They hold seven standard pages, or nine vinyl (12-pocket 2x2) pages.

Yeah, I definitely don't need that many pages! I like the fact that you can use the first page for all your really nice coins, and use an additional page for coins that are duplicates from upgrading. I honestly have no qualms about purchasing some lower grade Liberty nickels in lots for fun, as they can usually be had for cheap. So I ordered the 1901 today, as well as these: 1889 1903 - A nice VF upgrade from the 1903 I already have I am really curious to see how the 1889 looks, as the coins from 1883-1889 seem to cost more in grades above G/VG. This is the first one I've found so far on ebay that was pretty reasonably priced. I'm sure they are out there, though. All I got for now! I will post more pictures when I receive said coins.

Thank you! I now have four Liberty nickels coming in the mail. This is the hardest part... waiting. I should check out some coin shops this week while I'm on vacation to price them out.
