Waited 15 years for the opportunity to purchase a piece from Dale Larsons' collection of late date toned walkers. Pretty pleased with the piece I was able to acquire.

Indeed that is a beautiful Walking Liberty half!

Going from the sublime to the ridiculous, I picked up this Finland 10p coin from the 20 cent bin at my LCS yesterday (my first ever visit there!). Even pedestrian alloys like this can tone attractively. There is a faint bluish color around the rim on the reverse which I've chosen to show first. The obverse is a sort of mottled purplish.
I like the combination on these Finland coins of a very traditionally rendered heraldic symbol on one side (crowned rampant lion), and a spare, modern design of a tree on the other.

1c5d, wonderful patina on that coin, but the story is even better.

Thanks for the explanation of the imagery, which would have been obvious to the late 16th century Dutch, but much less to me!
