Quote: I have 6 notes from Portugal lost in transit, so if I ever get them I'll post them. - I'm sure they'll arrive. I have had packages take 9 - 11 weeks in transit this past year. Postage improved in late 2020 but has then slowed down again due to the 3rd wave of the pandemic in Canada (& some of the countries of postal origin). Here's a couple 'low hanging fruit' pick-ups from the African continent , namely a 5 & 10 Shilling (P-14 & P-16) from Kenya:

Likewise, I've followed the progression of your various US sets & have enjoyed seeing your collection grow (plus your interesting narrative). This is my 3rd year with World currency & I have never looked back. [I resisted the temptation for 15 years! ] Anyway, at the beginning, when I started looking over world currency, these Fiji notes were commonly listed below SCWPM BV online. They seem to be pretty popular. Now, I feel lucky if I can buy one at, or near BV, so I've been shopping before they become too dear (like Bermuda). P-96b 1996 double-letter prefix (same size SN) $2.00 P-101a 1998 single-letter prefix with Kubuabola signature $5.00: P-94a 1992 (same signature) $10.00:

I have 3 notes from Portugal that have taken 16 days so far to get to me from MA, yesterday they showed up at the Regional Destination center which usually means I would get them today, but I'm not surprised there are no updates. So I found the next batch of notes on ebay, ordered them on Monday, got all of them on Wednesday from TX which is farther. So today you get a 50 escudos from Portugal.

Quote: My last note, this is 2000 escudos. Excellent! Quote: The 1991 series was a tribute to the explorers of the world. In Lisbon there is a monument to the discovers (to Europe that is) of the foreign lands.

Today's note is the 500 Escudos. The obverse has a portrait of João II, known as " the Perfect Prince", who was the 13th King of Portugal. There is also an old map of Africa with Elmina Castle drawn on it, situated on Gold Coast, which is now Ghana. The reverse has an enlarged map of old West Africa and the drawing of the Elmina Castle. The two men are Pedro Nunes and Gil Eanes from the Monument to the Discoveries "Padrão dos Descobrimentos" on the edge of the Tagus River in Lisbon (see 2000 escudos) These note were issued from 17 October 1966 till 6 April 1982. They were withdrawn on 29 January 1988. Although demonetized they are still redeemable at Banco Do Portugal until 30-12-2022.
