Nice bill.I've never seen "These notes are legal tender for the payment of any amount" on a bill before. The "any" gave me a chuckle.

Bank of China 5 Yuan of 1926 (early issue). I found this recently for next to nothing. It's in poor condition but I love these well used Chinese notes with writing and chops/seals and so on. And a Bank of Communications 5 Yuan of 1927 (Shantung). Again tatty, but has a chop for the Casanova Ballroom in Shanghai on the back.

Before you ask, I only purchased this note because of the "machinery" on the note, as you know I collect all kinds of "machinery" related paper. Now, if I could just determine what kind of machine it is ? ===================================================================

@techwriter, I imagine it's some kind of machinery related to the production of pocketknives. Ternberg, Austria was/is famous for them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TernbergQuote: Because of the powerful rivers and the relatively near Erzberg ("Ore mountain"), a mountain with large iron deposits in Styria, and the useful water power in this area, Ternberg has a long history of making pocketknives. Since the 16th century the Trattenbacher Zaukerl were produced in a Trattenbach, forged with water power. Look up "Trattenbacher Zaukerl" and translate the article reveals "In order to differentiate the Feitel originating from different production, each family had its own embossing stamp , which was attached to the knife blade". So I'm thinking the machinery pictured is some kind of water-powered stamping thing.

It's a stamp, not a saw, you're correct. Working the metal by hammering would have been done by hand, this is for marking the hardened metal, it appears.

I'm not really a currency collector, but this qualifies as my "latest acquisition" even though it was a few years ago. Thailand 60 baht note commemorating 60 years on the throne for late King Rama IX.

A fun surprise when I check in my reference book. This note have a inverted watermark, value of 5x of normal watermark. Independent State of Croatia P12a Kat.br. 15.2 - Inverted watermark variety. Ref. for variety : Coins and Banknotes of Yugoslavia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia, 2nd Edition, Zlatko Viscevic, 2011.
