NumisRob Bedrock of the Community United Kingdom 18136 Posts	Posted 02/02/2020 06:50 am I went to my LCS yesterday and bought some old Bank of England 10 shilling notes. The purple one signed by Peppiatt was issued during World War II; the brown notes, signed by Beale and O'Brien, are from the 1950s. These notes were replaced by smaller ones with the Queen's portrait in 1961, which, in turn, gave way to the seven-sided decimal 50p coin. You see far fewer ten-shilling notes than pound notes of ths period on sale, so I was pleased to get these! I've just managed to collect the last 'missing' 50pf 'n' lettered piece from a set I have been building up (over 46 years!!) that consists of 40 different pieces. I now have the complete scarce and hard to comeby set. Each of the 4 different face values have 10 pieces that spell out Qu e d l I n b u r g - the town of issue. You might be able to see that 'n' on the 50pf is missing. Its now winging its way to me! - yeepee!! I have waited a long time for this. Report this Post to the Staff
