I love scrubbed dies and I can't recall having seen many Ikes with thick die file lines like this one let alone a proof. Thoughts? Am I tripping and file lines like this are more common than I think? Darth Morgan Pillar of the Community United States 2815 Posts	Posted 07/13/2017 10:05 am Hmmmm. I doesn't look like a proof to me. I assumed it was a business, but the strike quality gives it away. I guess it's just the lighting. I have yet to see a proof Ike with die polish lines like that. Typically, I see this on Denver issues from '71 and '72. I'm not good at distinguishing between hair lines and die polish lines. If I had seen it I would have assumed "impaired proof," but for $1 who cares, right? Hehe. Darth, I'm an expert on polished dies and I have to say that even I had to closely examine this one but it is indeed die file lines. Crazy sporadic ones! They almost make no sense unless it was an apprentice or the guy was just bored. If it was to remove clashing around the earth and around the bust they then went overboard for some reason. I'm thinking it was in the junk pile due to the shop not knowing it was silver and thinking it was a damaged coin. Report this Post to the Staff

The eagle appears very well-defined (head and feathers). Most of the ones in my sets are just awful with mushy, dull details. Who knows?
