How 'bout a triple talon head.... This one is a CHOICE BU from Dave Enders, but what makes it look different from most of the ones I've seen are its obverse fields. This Ike almost has a "special strike" look to it. Although not as sparkly as some of the 71-D proof planchet Ikes I have, I'm leaning toward the notion that this may be a PP struck with a worn die. I can't be sure though. I bought 7 more of these "CH BU" 71-Ds from Dave, and I'll share them once they're photographed. I got them in the hopes of obtaining possible PPs or PL specimens. Take a look at the link to the listing. You'll see why I took a chance on them. There are light marks on the bust but nothing I would consider annealing chatter.   |

Very nice, and it appears almost like a "reverse proof" finish (and great images, by the way)! What do you think it would grade?

Wow, this topic picked up some steam!  Looking good, everyone! My latest is out for delivery. I thought this was a postal holiday, so I expect that is a glitch or it is sitting on the truck ready to roll out tomorrow.   |

Great pics..I have slowed down a LOT my coin pics, but, for anyone interested, I couldn't get the results I wanted until I bought the fabric shooting box, with 2 lamps, which evened out the lighting.
Proof coins, and, VEDS IKES, can be tough to shoot, due to reflections, all kinds of issues. It takes a LOT of practice. Thank goodness for digital photography..in the "old" days, it was rolling your own film in a darkroom, and developing ALL the negatives, good or bad.
