You cannot always directly correlate price to survival rates though.

Two IKEs I've had in storage for about 40 years. One got scorched at some time (before I obtained it), the other is for comparison. Both were in the same bag (bank bag).

It sort-of looks like tarnished silver but it is not.

I really didn't want to start collecting these it just kinda happed.They just have slowly begun to draw to me to them somehow.

I wonder how many Ikes (or Morgans, or Peace dollars for that matter) lie at the bottom of various waterways across the US--where someone attempted to skip the coin from one bank to the other, only to come up short.

Burnished maybe? Not many graded as such, but if it came from a bag 40 years ago, you have a shot at it.

I'm not familiar with that attribution for an IKE but I'll let the next owner worry about it I guess. In the meantime, I'll just continue to let it live in my collection as an interestingly colored coin.

Here's my 1972-S silver proof in the plastic holder. Seems to be turning milky or foggy. Camera isn't showing quite the way I see it through the plastic.
