Oh weird - now I'm going to have to look at it again to see if there's glue. okay yeah I thought most likely it was just corrosion damage - thanks for confirming! :)

Hello again! I just found a coin purse with a 5 cent euro (Madrid 2000) coin and there's pretty heavy corrosion damage on the back. I'm guessing this is the reason the top layer is missing rather than a clad error, but I wanted to double check just to be sure I wasn't missing anything important. I did include a close up image of the corrosion damage at the top of the coin too just so the degree of damage from that is maybe a bit more clear. Thanks for any input!

Hello again! Out of curiosity, I found a YouTube video discussing valuable penny errors and one of the ones discussed was an incomplete clip. I noticed that the shape of that error is really similar to the one discussed in this post. Don't get me wrong; I agree that what I have is most likely not that. I think it seems more like damage accrued later as a lot of people pointed out, but I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on how to differentiate between the two errors? I'm attaching a freeze frame photo of the penny discussed in the video for reference, but I do not own this material or this penny, just to be clear. Just trying to get better at identifying mint error vs damage accrued later. :) Thanks again for sharing your expertise!

Got it - too bad! I thought this was my first mint error that I'd found, but I'll have to just keep looking! :D thanks for everyone who commented and welcomed me to the community! I'm already learning new stuff! <3

Wow! Thank you all so much for your input - I didn't expect to hear back so quickly! So then it seems like most of you think it's most likely a coin wrapping error - when I had done my initial research I had ruled that out because it wasn't centerer around the middle of the coin like I saw in most of the example pictures, but it sounds like I shouldn't have ruled that out! I saw some people asked for more pics closer up and of the reverse side so I'll add those now. I was curious about the right part of the line/scratch specifically because it looked like maybe the error is not affecting the letters on top? But then on the left part it seems like there's discoloration in the letters as well so I don't know what to think about that. Thanks again for all the excellent input! :)

Hello! I'm new to the community and just dipping my toes into looking at coins and understanding errors and their origins. I was wondering if someone could help me identify the error on this crossing the Delaware quarter. There's a slightly indented curved line on the back running mostly under and partway through the United States of America text. What do you guys think this might be from?

Thanks for any info or help :)
