Part 2!!
Awesome Canadian cent finds! All King George small cents!

Quite a few 70's S minted coins. Always cool to see.

Except for.... this one. What's up with this? This coin is eluding me lol

FINALLY found this 2009 D, whatever you'd call this particular design. You can see the disgusting one in the background it's replacing.

Some more 2009 minted coins. What are these called? I call them centennials. Lol.

Finally completed them all, too!

And finally... All these exhausting crazy amount of duplicate wheat cents. So the most common ones seemed to be 1941, 1944, and 1954, all of which I already have, of course.

Well, that was quite a lot! I think at this point, I am just going to search casually, though. I can probably find most wheat cents from 1940 and up through coin roll hunting, with the exception of the steel cents. But anything from the teens, twenties, and thirties I will most likely not be able to find in circulation, unless I get really lucky. Given the fact that I went through over 100 dollars of cent rolls and found nothing of that sort, eh, I'm guessing it will be a rare occurrence. I actually went on Ebay tonight and purchased several coins which didn't cost too much. Bought several from the twenties, which should be here in the next week or so.
Well, that's all for now!

Quote: But you still may want or like to confirm. Easy to make a balance with a Popsicle stick or similar (I made one with Lego). Weigh against known copper and known zinc cents.
Eh, I think for now I'll trust it. Lol. They have a pretty fairly high rating on Ebay.
Quote: Nice purchase, Humanist1287 Thank you!
Quote: Smart move! Now you can search for upgrades easily by comparison to the known. Good luck!
Perhaps! Thanks! They looked fine for the most part. A few coins had a few spots of grime on them.
Alright, so... I did something today I've never done. I visited five of my credit union branches and amassed a whopping 125 dollars worth of penny rolls. I wouldn't normally do this, but being that I was off today and off tomorrow as well, it's a bit easier to manage all this.
Alright... First. The main "finds" that I feel were noteworthy for me. Kind of a bummer, but hell, I'll take it. I was really hoping to find more wheat cents from the teens, twenties and thirties but I found none. It's kind of frustrating the fact that I had literally like 250 rolls, and I found NONE of that.

What the hell is up with this? Seriously? I keep running into this "BU" type 1960/59's. It's starting to get annoying lol

I enjoy when I find these weird rolls. Makes me feel like there's goodies in them!

So about three or four rolls in, I opened a roll and out popped wheat cents everywhere. Unfortunately, it was someone's coin dump.

FINALLY found a BU 1961-D to match the others next to it.

Ahh. Much better. A beautiful upgrade.

Some more needed upgrades.

This thing. Fairly certain this is German.

Alright I think I'm going to have to make a second post! There's way too much for one! |

Noooo. Well, technically... I sort of did. I purchased this from Ebay recently. FINALLY got here. Sheesh. I swear, slowest shipping ever.
It was much easier to just buy these, rather than having to figure out which variety is which, as I don't have a scale or anything like that.

Very interesting. I'll take a look at my collection as well, as that is interesting. I do love Wheat cents as well. Not sure why. Perhaps because they are uncommon?
I have a Dansco Lincoln cent 1909-2009 album. Despite already having many of the wheat cents in my album that I continuously find duplicates of in circulation, I hang on to them anyways.

That's crazy. Honestly, I encounter a lot of Canadian cents of all dates. I am getting so many of them that I don't know what to do with them. I started a 2x2 collection of them recently, though. I don't really see many newer ones, though. I have yet to see any 2009's, 2010, 2011 or 2012. It seems like the most common ones I come across are 1998, 1999 and 2000.
I believe I have most of the regular strikes from 1961-2007, with the exception of the 1971. Not sure why that's so hard to come across. I don't have any of the varieties. I have 3 or 4 cents from the 40's. Evidently, older cents can be had on Ebay for still relatively pretty cheap.

I wouldn't necessarily say they all looked crappy. It was kind of hard to get a good shot honestly. They also weren't all from the same roll, at least not when I was opening them. They were probably originally from one roll like you said.
My set of 7 1982 "BU" variety cents should be here this week that I had ordered from Ebay. One coin that keeps missing me is the 1974-S. I'm kind of surprised I haven't found it in a roll yet, considering I've found most other S minted coins within the 60-70 or so range, with the exception of the 70-S small date. |

I keep seeing this term "Zincolns." I would assume it is some kind of slang?
I mean, personally, I haven't really had too much trouble honestly finding some nice post-1982 coins in circulation. Also, it's weird, I feel like I see a tons of cents from the late 60's that are always in really good shape and have a particular look to them. 1968 in particular. |

What's wrong with cents after 1982? And yes, I had contemplated doing this. The most difficult coin and most expensive to find in the Lincoln memorial cent series is the 1970-S Small date. Pretty impossible to find in the wild. |

Thanks! So today, I was lucky enough that my local credit union actually had 30 dollars worth of penny rolls. This is honestly unusual, as most of the time I go to the various branch locations of my credit union and they only have like ten dollars at a time, or none!
Gotta say, even though I did find some interesting things, in terms of like finding older wheat cents, this was probably the biggest bust I've had.
Weird rainbow toned 59

Some beautiful 09 examples I found. These looked close to BU

The four wheats I found. the 1940 is the only one I didn't have.

oooookay then. Lol.

Okay so this was really weird... I swear somebody did a coin dump. I found SO many near BU 1959 cents.

This was also pretty cool... But weird. I also found TONS of 1960-D BU or close to it cents. I think somebody dumped a collection here. I could be mistaken, but a lot of these look like small date coins.

Despite my lackluster coin roll hunt, my Mom who was visiting this weekend had saved this for me. Thanks, Mom!

So for now, I added the 1940 and the 1949 D to my album. Not much, but I'll take it. That's all for now! |

Thanks! I thought they might. Lol.
I figured since I sorted through them and filled in the holes with what I needed, I have plenty to spare. Spread the generosity, if you will. I still have plenty of them, though. Last night, I built the start of my Canadian cent collection in 2x2's, and when I get more supplies, I think I'm going to possibly do this with all my leftover wheat cents as well.

I see.
There is a coworker of mine who also enjoys collecting coins, and basically likes anything he can get his hands on. He was asking me recently about wheat pennies, since I told him I had a bunch.
He was asking how much I would sell them to him for... Dude.. I'm not gonna sell them to you, I'll give them to you lol
So, I compiled a cheap little 2x2 album for him. In the end, I think it turned out pretty cool and honestly I'm kind of jealous now. Lol. I think I will do this with all my extra wheat cents eventually as well, the ones that I have that aren't in my Dansco album. I am also going to go this route with my Canadian small cent collection, which I also started working on. I had initially ordered a Dansco plain cents album, but if I can literally save 50 bucks... Yeah, I think I will.
I wouldn't say I would go so far as to "hoard" wheat cents, but I think I will keep whatever ones I find for the most part.

How I feel when I find random wheat cents lol
