Mint mark in wrong position? Seems there are more than one mintmark position for the gold. PCGS MS65 example has same mintmark position as the specimen in this thread. PCGS MS64+ and MS64 have different mintmark positions.
Has a book been published describing mintmark positioning on this date and mint?
My selections are all over the place. I have a gold plate 1883 V nickel, and absolutely UNC with PL fields Morgan (1901 0), a fake 1916 SLQ quarter - most people don't even pause.
During a previous secret santa participation, I sent a package overseas as well. Person said they never received. Secret Santa accused me of not sending anything. Have not participated since.
Of interest to coin collectors. Very old and VERY heavy safe made it thru the worst fire. Home was reduced to less than rubble. Old safe made it with contents.
BOLT the safe down. Add a layer of sheetrock, green sheet rock, or cement board to the sides and double the thickness on the top of modern safes - regardless of fire rating.
In my opinion, the Standing Liberty Quarters are in second place in learning how to grade. As others have mentioned, there are several nuances in year ranges of this wonderful quarter design.
Buffalo nickels are harder to grade. Magnitude of variances are greater...year to year and mint to mint.
