"So basically its still a proof but being so its bot(not) considered a WAM because all proofs are WAMs"
It is indeed a WAM but Proof coins are supposed to be WAM's so it is normal. Business strikes are supposed to be CAMS.
If you find a Proof Cent with a CAM it is very collectable and if you find a business strike WAM it too is collectible. (WAM=Proof Reverse, CAM=Business Strike Reverse)
I wouldn't have a problem with the auction EXCEPT the seller used the term Machine Doubled Die. If he would have just used Machine Doubled ...fine...no foul. But when you put the word Die there right after Doubled it is inferring the Die is Doubled and it is not.
I think because there are so many. Just like on the Bicentennial Lincolns where is fingers are doubled. There are probably 100 different ones. I have rolls of doubled memorial columns. Now I only keep the more severe ones or ones that have doubling on both sides of Lincoln. I don't have any Double Ears...1995's etc. Supply and Demand. If something is scarce it incites more interest.
Basically you found a Doubled Die. However around 50% of the 1972's all have that. It is called "Master Hub Doubling" and as you stated all other dies made from that master hub all show that doubling so it is very common.
I know it would be a little work but you probably have one post for each coin. Take good pictures and tell us what you think you have or where on the coin you think something is an error/variety. You will get the most help that way.
Judging by the marks above the date and on the reverse by cent it looks like someone a) unsuccessfully tried to scrape beneath the plating...or b) scraped the coin before it was plated so it appears to not be plated.
Mercury isn't bad for ya....its in Tuna and in Vaccines
That is a nice broadstruck. Can you take a picture with a nickel on one side and a quarter on the other side so we can get a idea of the size of it. Size matters
Well the raised spot above the window is a chipped die. Its hard to tell from the pictures provided if the top of the house is a die chip, lamination, struck through or PMD. Better pictures would help.
I have never sent in a coin to get attributed. What is the best way about doing this? Should I buy a membership to PCGS and use the free graded coins or what are my other options. I think I have three coins I want to send in. One is the coin from this thread I want to get attributed for being off-center and wrong reverse...the other two coins I just want graded. I now it costs more to get errors/varieties attributed than a regular grading. I have been to their website and it didn't make much sense to me. lol Any help is appreciated.
I do not collect ROOms so I could be incorrect butcthis looks like Machine Doubling to me. I see thec same doubling on the part of the 9 that is showing on the date.
