The tails on the S in the Sydney mint mark loop around quite a bit.

It looks like there were a number of mules struck at the Royal Mint during the 1960s:

1965 New Zealand halfpenny with Great Britain obverse (one known?)
1965 New Zealand threepence with Malaya and British Borneo obverse (one known?)
1966 Great Britain halfpenny with Jersey obverse (two known?)
1967 New Zealand 2c with Bahamas obverse (many known)

Does anyone know of any others either from the 1960s or earlier even? Not all of the above seem to be mentioned in catalogues so maybe there are others that I have missed.

I think some contributors or advertisers (or someone anyway) got an email from the new owners to be.

Looks like a high echidna - the low echidna has a bigger SD like at http://goccf.com/t/437438

I don't think I've been paying enough attention to all the new releases but the Platinum Jubilee design is good.

Crazy - I thought the issue price was quite reasonable.

Is it a rare date? And is the alignment perfect coin alignment or slightly off?

For any readers of the Australasian Coin and Banknote Magazine, you may have noticed that there was no December/January issue this year. I'm not sure what has happened but apparently there will be a small hiatus and it will be relaunched as the Australian Coin Review in March 2023 by https://imperialgroup.com.au/

Probably the 1987 high echidna by raw numbers. The 1972 and 1984 low echidna are scarce but not that rare.
In another thread someone said there is a 2022 low echidna which might be quite rare but not enough information yet. The other low echidnas (2008-2016) are generally easy enough to find in mint sets but I think the 2011 is quite scarce and is only found in baby sets.

No, probably because there were almost no non-circulating collector coins being produced in 1952/1953.

It would come as no surprise that he did do both obverses of the florin given the jury was out as to which would be used

Was that in the book? It's been a while since I read it but in other reading I saw that there was a one to two month period of discussion about the obverse though I'm not sure what the disagreement was (I have in my head it was about Latin vs English).

Oh, I'll have to read at some point - I thought quite a few of these had been appearing on Facebook. In hindsight, none were appearing 10 years ago when the whole coloured $2 coin thing started.

Yes I remember reading about it somewhere - I think I.S. Wright sold it at some point and had a picture on their website? Or a member here (from a long time ago) - Ian Hartshorn I think - had a picture on his website (which I thought I had bookmarked but can no longer find).

There was an article in a recent Coin and Banknote magazine about one of the guys who makes these - I think it was in a small town in South Australia and he has recently retired.

I think there has been some discussion somewhere about how to tell if it was counter-stamped in Canberra or at a show and I think you can tell - the pressure of the Canberra press is different to the portable press from memory.

Ah it was the first year for that series (which ran from 2014 to 2016 I think) - so it's surprising that it's so expensive. Maybe the 2016 ones are as well.
