It is with a heavy heart to inform Buddy's friends on this forum of her passing on the 10/24/18. She so loved this group and learned so much. I thank you for your kindness that meant so much to her. God Bless.

Hi this is Kevin typing for Buddy. She has been waiting for a final cancer diagnosis. So far positive for breast cancer and bladder cancer. She has had two operations for the bladder in the last few months. This has left her with little energy. She is improving and wanted to say she misses you and sends her love to you all. Anyone inclined to pray for her please do.

As others have posted, it's just a damaged coin. Sometimes holes were punched into coins to use them as key rings or bracelet charms.

No harm in asking. Keep hunting!

Here's a site with the print runs: http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f2009ah.html

Low print runs can caery a premium.

Assuming you don't want to keep them, find a paper money dealer and see what kind of offer you get.

Jim, thanks for posting this. It's the first time I've seen a coin discolored from buffing.

There seems to be no end to what people will do to coins.

Maybe you should start a new thread and ask that question. I'm sure there's someone on this site who can tell you what years had sharp devices and which years were known for weak or mushy devices.

Just a thought -- a die maker may have created this as a test piece to test whether or not s/he could make sharp right angles and a perfect oval.

It didn't leave the mint looking like that.

No harm in asking though.

Keep a record of this thread with the coin. I doubt that there's anyone at any grading company that can tell you more about it than Mike Diamond already has.

Can you post pics of the edges, please?

It could be an error .. maybe. Collar shimmy or stutter strike?

It's a puzzle.

Like John1, I am waiting.

Keep hunting. There's good stuff out there waiting to be found.
