I remember that too. You can easily spot, at least this and the other guy's fake holder by the lack of the three "knobs" from the black material over the edge of the coin on the back side of the holder.

Copied straight from my post in world coins

Found this coin online (1891 yen) and got curious regarding the counterstamp. Looks like a shield of armor with a horse rider in it...The stamps on the other side suggest that the shield stamp was there before the asian symbol stamps got there, suggesting the shield stamp is at least as old as the other stamps.

Has onyone sen a stamp like this, and what/who made them?

Thanks in advance

Found this coin, and got curious who this S.V. Tuck was. Found one other coins with his mark on it. Haven't found that much more about the stamp.

Anyone in here got some additional info regarding the coin/stamp/person?

thanks

Finally got up to 20 characters....

Anyways, one of my latest purchases. I've been comparing it to a lot of coins in the grade range I would assume it is, and grading gold is a tough tast, even for the professionals. I've seen coins with better surfaces being graded 3 steps lower than coins with worse surface...

What do you think?

thanks

If you would sell several items in a short period of time, get a store for a month or two (don't forget to cancel) to get a discount on the % eBays takes. It costs to get a store, but if that is less than the extra % you pay, you'll save some dollars at least.

Supernice coin on obverse, too bad about the abuse of the reverse

I'm just blown away by some of the coins...

WOW, I just looked up the order numbers adjacent to the ones I just listed, which would make it plausible that it would be the same submitter. We are talking about waaaay over 100k in high end Morgans...

Of course not. I was just playing with the fact that many "unbroken" rolls of Morgans on eBay are described as BU++++, GEM, UNC+ and whatnot in their descriptions

Here is the link to the submission...

also, here is another one, the very next order number,so probably the same person submitting the coins. Loads of high end Peace dollars. The $11k MS65+ 27-d has a picture included.

I sometimes roam the shared orders page on PCGS, just for fun and maybe find some real rarities being graded.

Anyways, I stumbled onto this submission, and this must be from one of the eBay Morgan rolls, don't you think?
The description of those auctions promise something similar at least.

Sadly, no pictures attached to the cert numbers, but it's still one heck of a submission.

Got a response from PCGS regarding the 5c coin...

"Dear Sir,

The coin is circulated, many frictions are visible in the field.

Regards,"

Not sure where the see the frictions, as I would call the strike weak.
Oh well, NGC it is then.

I got them at a prominent online auction house in Stockholm. they usually have junk or bullion, but sometimes you get lucky. If you do your research...

actually, these were purchased to get graded and sold, so if you want a top pop 10c, let me know.

Coin is still in Paris, but they have the picture up.
I guess they could claim the spots on the one side as sign of circulation. I guess it has to be some specific lighting conditions for them to stand out like that.

Anyways, since I feel they are dead wrong, this one is getting cracked and getting an acetone swim before deciding what to do with it.

Btw, I did purchase the full Kiau chau set (a total of two coins). The 10 cent where much more fairly graded...

A nice upgrade from my VG8. Bought raw a few weeks ago and now safely tucked away in plastic...
