Copied straight from my post in world coins
Found this coin online (1891 yen) and got curious regarding the counterstamp. Looks like a shield of armor with a horse rider in it...The stamps on the other side suggest that the shield stamp was there before the asian symbol stamps got there, suggesting the shield stamp is at least as old as the other stamps.
Has onyone sen a stamp like this, and what/who made them?
Thanks in advance

Finally got up to 20 characters....
Anyways, one of my latest purchases. I've been comparing it to a lot of coins in the grade range I would assume it is, and grading gold is a tough tast, even for the professionals. I've seen coins with better surfaces being graded 3 steps lower than coins with worse surface...
What do you think?

thanks |

Oh, I know, the deatil designation is regarding the cracks on the slab itself. So now he grades both the coin and the future dings and cracks on the slab.

I sometimes roam the shared orders page on PCGS, just for fun and maybe find some real rarities being graded.
Anyways, I stumbled onto this submission, and this must be from one of the eBay Morgan rolls, don't you think? The description of those auctions promise something similar at least.
Sadly, no pictures attached to the cert numbers, but it's still one heck of a submission.

Got a response from PCGS regarding the 5c coin...
"Dear Sir, The coin is circulated, many frictions are visible in the field.
Regards,"
Not sure where the see the frictions, as I would call the strike weak. Oh well, NGC it is then.

I got them at a prominent online auction house in Stockholm. they usually have junk or bullion, but sometimes you get lucky. If you do your research...
actually, these were purchased to get graded and sold, so if you want a top pop 10c, let me know. |

Coin is still in Paris, but they have the picture up. I guess they could claim the spots on the one side as sign of circulation. I guess it has to be some specific lighting conditions for them to stand out like that.
Anyways, since I feel they are dead wrong, this one is getting cracked and getting an acetone swim before deciding what to do with it.

Btw, I did purchase the full Kiau chau set (a total of two coins). The 10 cent where much more fairly graded...
