Well, just found my second 2006 NP,NL-Mag... but it's not in very good condition. Here's some pics... you'll have to trust me that it's magnetic
I've been CRHing pennies for a long time now, and I've gone through only about 5000 properly so far (sorting by date, testing all the 2006 NP, NLs) and I have about 80000 in total, so I've got a ways to go!

I got lucky and was able to get 12 boxes ($300) from the bank today. A quick check shows that most of them are hand-rolled. I'm looking forward to many months, and possibly years, of roll hunting for dates and varieties. I don't think I'll find much, but I did manage to find a 2006 no p no logo magnetic in very nice condition a while back. Maybe one or two more of those will be in my many boxes (actually, I have about 18 other boxes of pennies too). |

I also love the 58 dollar. That said, my current favourite, partly due to another of my hobbies, is the Toronto city map coin from last year. I love the large size, the fine detail of the map, and the selective plating. |

I often just buy stuff from the post office, and I only buy directly from the RCM if it isn't available in my local POs and if I _really_ like it personally. For example, I ordered from RCM with the Toronto Map coin because I _love_ maps. Most of my uncirculated, proof or specimen purchases I do at the PO. |

Are there semi-recent NCLT (2012 or 2011) that might be worth picking up at retail prices? I know I see stuff, but I'm not totally up on popularity/value of NCLT. Mostly I buy them as art to appreciate rather than as something that might be valuable. I have noticed "old" sets and coins in post offices from time to time, and if there is something great to get, I would love to be able to keep any eye open for it. |

Congrats on the find! I wish you well in you decision to sell or kepp it! I also found one in circulation a few months ago, also in good condition. I haven't had it graded yet, but once it is, I'll post pics. It will be my first graded coin.

What Types Of Coins/Bills Do You Collect Most And Why?

I started collecting because my older cousin collected coins. He showed me cool stuff including his book about coins and the fabled 36 dot cent (which if I remember was going for about $5000 at the time). Then, coincidentally, a friend of the family gave me some (all?) of his coin collection when I was about 9 years old. It had some great stuff, but nothing truly amazing. Still, as a kid it was amazing to have the 1958 dollar, some large cents, and a few really interesting foreign coins (plus lots more that I don't remember). I started collecting small cents at about that time and easily found 1940 to present (it was the 80's at the time) in circulation.
I also was a big fan of both Richie Rich and Uncle Scrooge comics as a kid. To this day I still have dreams of finding large piles of amazing coins in odd places (e.g. under bushes, the middle of the street, etc.).
Then I went to university and was poor, poor, poor! I sold almost all of my collection. I regretted it, but that's life.
Then, about 15 years ago I started collecting again very very casually, mostly keeping stuff from pocket change and once in a while buying an uncirculated set. Only in the last two years have I gotten more serious about it.
I'm currently focused on getting a good set of small cents with varieties from coin roll hunting. I'm also still working on all the common circulation denominations as well, but still relatively casually (pocket change mostly). I've only ever attended one coin show and was mostly overwhelmed by both the variety and the prices. I don't really want to spend a lot of money on coins... I just like the satisfaction of finding something cool in circulation. I still buy things from RCM, but I don't every try to be complete about collecting that stuff. Still mostly uncirculated sets and the odd special coin that I really like the look of (e.g. the Toronto Map coin). |

I've got four old-style loonies and toonies in mint uncirculated sets. I keep hoping I'll find some in circulation, but it seems very unlikely at this point. If they were even at a few percent of the new style, I probably would have come across them by now. |

Hi Folcan, out of 8 2008 pennies, I've found 2 that are full "1"'s and 2 that are "thin serif"'s. Very cool find! In a week I'm going to be on vacation and sorting through about 80,000 circulation pennies (I'm probably a little OCD). I'll provide some stats on this error in circulation after that. |

I fit 1250 pennies in a 750ml yogurt container. That's 600ml per 1000 pennies. 35000000000x600/1000=21 million liters. Swimming pools vary in size greatly, but if we assume a pool 1m x 5m x 8m as an average (40000 liters), then we have to have about 525 swimming pools to hold those pennies. |

I would also be interested in this too. Anyone have actual experience with a house fire? (Hopefully not, but at the same time, it would be great to learn from someone else.) |
