While I was reasonably certain this wasn't a weak D I had to ask for opinions after reading the following quote from PCGS & looking at the pictured coin. I underlined the part that seems ambiguous. https://www.PCGS.com/news/do-you-re...-weak-d-cent
Quote: There are two die pairs PCGS categorizes as "Weak D" (spec #3110). The ANA's die pair #1 is identifiable by a small, sharp "T" in "TRUST," a weak terminal "2" in the date (in contrast to the aforementioned variety), and a "jogging" die crack emanating from the reverse rim to the "O" in "ONE," slightly skipping down as it passes through to the inside of the letter (not to be confused with a similar crack that extends straight through the "O" without being diverted found on some standard 1922-D cents). Die pair #3 has a weak terminal "2" and a mushy "O" ("ONE") that melts into the field at bottom left. All examples from these two pairs are considered "Weak D," regardless of the extent of mint mark visibility, which can vary with a coin's grade and the extent of die deterioration. While less scarce than the "No D, Strong Reverse" examples, "Weak D" pieces still command a strong premium over their standard 1922-D (#2537) counterparts. |

I've been digging through some of the unmarked rolls from the Lincoln hoard I bought & this coin turned up. Definitely been through some hard times. Looks like it might have spent some time in the ground, damaged when it was dug up, & then harshly cleaned to remove corrosion. Sorry about the pictures, especially the reverse. When it's tilted just right it almost looks like the remnants of a VDB so I tried to make that stand out. Upon further examination I don't think it's a VDB.

Dead rodent smell is the worst. I was on vacation in Atlanta & had a rat crawl into my car's cabin air vent in a parking garage. Somehow it got stuck & died....probably when I turned the AC on. This was over a long 4th of July weekend, the AC wouldn't blow cold air due to the blower motor being jammed, & the car started to reek after a couple days. When I got back home the mechanic I used was able to pull a bit more than half of the corpse out of the system. I ended up parking the car against a tree where I knew an ant bed was & leaving it until the 8-lane ant trail into the car disappeared. That got rid of the smell but every time it rained for the next several years a little bit of eau de death would ease out of the vents. Did I mention the car was less than 6 months old when this happened? |

While sorting through the massive lot of rolls I bought a couple months ago I ran across one labeled "1955 S Freaks". I pulled the top few coins out of the roll to check them out. As far as I can tell there are die chips on the 9, 5, & S causing them to look filled. Hoping someone can tell me if that's correct and if there's any value to these.

After thinking about it I've decided to let this one go. There were 2 coins that really stood out in the collection I was buying. This one & an 1803 half dime. My original plan was to keep the half dime & sell this one. Unfortunately after I initially posted about the half dime I realized it had a bend. Every time I looked at it all I could see was the bend and all I could think about was how much I paid. I ended up selling it and told myself I'd keep the 1916-D instead. Unfortunately I just don't get that much enjoyment out of looking at the 1916-D. It's on auction at Great Collections with an opening bid of $1500 and an ending date of April 30th. |

I'm semi-retired & sell various items on eBay and other venues. I have an eBay store and am a Top Rated Seller. My fees on coins are close to 10%. Without a store or TRS status your fees will be higher. If I had to guess I'd say in the 13-15% range. Shipping of $3-5 sounds right as long as you aren't buying insurance. Once everything is said & done you might end up with 80-85% of average eBay sold prices if you sell them yourself.
In the antique/vintage/junk business there's a general rule of thumb that wholesale is about a third of retail. A third goes to overhead leaving roughly a third for profit. I don't go by that for a lot of reasons but most businesses are only going to pay 30-50% of retail. That seems to be about where Littleton's "value" is. The exception to that is for higher dollar items, high demand items, or a combination of the two. |

Quote: @trdhrdr - with 10 Gold Medals in GTP to your name surely you understand the guessing rules. jbuck cannot round off your $14.75 guess so please try again.
You are the all-time GTP champ, so it does give me some confidence however in my guess.
I going to chalk that one up to a senior moment... |
