Here is another 1 cash piece from the Northern Song Dynasty of the Empire of China. It is of Zhihe (Yuanbao, regular script), and dates from 1054 to 1056.

That would be a 1 paisa piece from Banswara (an Indian state).

That coin looks like it is a 1 kaserah piece from Kashmir. There are a few different types to consider, but the closest example I found was struck in the name of Sa'id Khan around 1533.

I do not own many duplicates of coins (excluding pocket change), but there is one type of coin I cannot seem to stop myself from buying:

Those are 1 schilling pieces from the Free City of Riga, all made in 1577. I love these things!

(It is not just that one date I have accumulated though; I believe I have 24 of these things total, but I do not have a group photo of them all. 1577 is the date I have the most of, though.)

The left coin is actually this one. The centre design in the last picture is the main difference between the two types. The date written on yours is 16 - 2, meaning it was made around 1928 in the Gregorian calendar (and if you would like to be even more specific, yours is without dots in the arabesques).

As for the second one, the link in the above post does look correct. I am not exactly sure how to tell the years apart on that type though.

One day left!

Quote:
Do the denticles count as dots?

I mean, they do look pretty dot-like. How about half a point?

Quote:
Not perfectly round - 2 points (is this not-round enough?)

It is not perfectly round, so I will count that. To determine if something is 'perfectly round' in cases like these, I just crop the picture with a 1:1 circle ratio. Your coin is an oval. Using that method, pepactonius also gets a point in this catagory (it is very close to being perfectly round, but not quite there).

Current rankings!
9 points: Finn235 (diameter, date-range, not round, dots)
6 points: pepactonius (location, composition, not round)
5 points: Crazyb0 (diameter, not round, cross)
5 points: spruett001 (location, not round, dots, cross)
4 points: bd251 (location, diameter, dots)
3 points: MontCollector (cross, gate, dots)
2.5 points: jbuck (diameter, denticles)
2 points: Dorado (not round)

(If I missed anything, please tell me!)

A 1/2 Bazaruco from Portuguese Malacca (the Malay Peninsula):

I am not exactly sure on the date-range of this piece because many sources seem to list something different. When that happens, I take the earliest and latest years listed, meaning I am saying this coin was made from 1580 to 1641.

It is tin, around 13 millimetres, and does not have many design elements on it. While it is a cheap type of coin, I am not sure how many people own coins from Malacca. Anyways, here are the points:

Location (you can only get points from one category):
3 points: A coin from Malacca (Portuguese or British).
2 points: A coin from the Malay Peninsula*.
1 point: A coin from Malaysia (or Malaya, Borneo, Sarawak, or Straits Settlements).

Size (you can only get points from one category):
3 points: A coin with a diameter of 13 millimetres (13.01-13.99).
2 point: A coin with a diameter of 10-16 millimetres (10.01-16.99).
1 point: A coin with a diameter of 7-19 millimetres (7.01-19.99).

And... random-ish stuff:
3 points: A dateless coin made for a span of 57 to 65 years.
2 points: a dateless coin whose date-range falls somewhere between 1580 and 1641.
1 point: a dated coin made from 1580 to 1641.
2 points: A coin made from tin.
2 points: A coin that was not struck perfectly round.
1 point: A coin made under a Portuguese colony.
1 point: A coin with a cross on it.
1 point: A coin with a gate on it.
1 point: A coin with... at least 18 dots on it.

The round will end sometime in three days (the 26th). And as always, the most points will win, and the round starts now. Let's see what you have!

*And by Malay Peninsula, I do not mean the modern geographical area. I mean places like Banten, Jambi, Johor, Pontianak, Siak, Kelantan, Palembang, Maluka, or other places like those (since "Malay Peninsula" is where Portuguese Malacca tends to be listed under).

An English farthing from 1694:

With a diameter of 24 millimeters, this would be a farthing from the reign of William and Mary. And with it being a farthing, it would be from 1694 (link!). This is also my oldest junk-bin find, beating my previous oldest one by 29 years.

I love Livonian coins.

The last picture is upside-down, but this is a 2 schilling piece that was minted as a joint coinage between the Livonian Order and the Archbishopric of Riga. This type is not dated, but it would have been made from 1509 to 1524.

A link to this coin can be found here; however, there are no pictures on that page. It was a page I created, and the only pictures I had been able to find of it were located in a Fedorov catalogue. So now I must ask: would you allow your pictures to be used on that Numista page?

I think my largest difference would be on my only piece of Russian wire money (made from 1636 to 1643). Its long length is 14 millimeters; its short length is 9 millimeters.
