Breathe on the stone in question.... if it fogs up.. it's fake.... if it doesn't that's good.
lay the stone in question either on newspaper/print or on a piece of paper with a dot.... (place it flat side down and pointed side up)
if you can read the newspaper or make out the dot in anyway it's a fake...
Finally you can take it to a jeweler but I would recommend taking it to a trusted source and NEVER letting the diamond out of your sight for obvious reasons
This may be contrary to what others have said... but in my opinion... I would say "give him nothing" let him EARN it! The reward will be greater and the appreciation will be deeper.
Example... have him do a good deed in the community or help with some type of chore around the house... this would earn him perhaps a roll of nickles for him to go through. (now if you happen to slip into the roll a few interesting nickels well that in my opinion is just providing extra motivation)
I wish you both a fun successful journey... and if there's any way we can help please don't hesitate to post there's some REALLY good people on here
This is the exact same situation as the 1898 manitoba gold coins.... they were made in the 60's by a local coin dealer.. all would've been fine except he put 1/2 D and 1D (a denomination) to the coins.. at that point it becomes counterfeit. These coins on eBay are counterfeit and eBay shouldn't allow them to be sold and the RCMP could potentially confiscate them and prosecute the sellers or those making them.
Ohh SNAKES ON A PLANE!! I check at this once and there's no challenge posted... come back and it's a chuck E cheese token and already a few submissions! I know I have a few of these kicking around somewhere but have NO clue where they would be at the moment. I'm going to start digging even though it looks like this one is already in the bag! Congrats to Joseph!
I loved this round... course I love this thread... this is the BEST thread this forum has had in my opinon! Why there isn't 50 members here contributing yet I have no idea!
But now I wait for the next challenge....
It was my birthday a lil while ago and I bought a coin just for this thread... that's how much I am loving this thread!
For the record I love this challenge! I know I wouldn't get high on the points with the dragonslayer but any chance I can get to show that coin off I would....
but I am LOVING the coins I'm seeing here! Some REALLY cool material.. kudos to all participants!
okay we're talking the same thing... I don't consider this a "double yolk" b/c it has nothing to do with the yolk on the ox cart. But I get what you're saying...
Well I am now really stoked for Monday.... I found my 2013 charlton guide... I have "most" of the coins already sorted by date, although I just found another bucket of nickel dollars to go through as well...
Ohh side question.. has there ever been a back issue on nickel 50 cent pieces?
Last night I invited one of my friends over and immediately we started to look at the '74's for double yolks. Didn't find any in this batch but did manage to find two with what I think are identical die clashes and one with a D/C going almost all around the beads.
SPP most of the material is probably EF-AU with a few 62's or 63's I don't think anything would grade up to 66. You said you were missing some lowball pieces ... send me a PM of which years you need. I would be happy to put one or two into my pocket for ya! Send them your way in about a year or so...
