Thanks @heymikep @zurie for insight on the variety. Confusing one to say the least.

It's a tough call, I had agreed with you at first because the reverse by the leaves doesn't show as many die stress lines as the reference example. The small lump at end of the scroll on obverse tipped me to the 8. I will try it at PCGS, and see what they think. Both WB3 and 8 are very similar. Tough call.
Thanks for looking I appreciate it.

@GMS5

I had thought so too, but it lacks the obverse characteristics below which are consistent with WB-3, unless the pictures dont show:
Centered date with worn digits
; Die cracks in rock support to the left of the ribbon
; Clash marks in the drapery below Liberty's elbow and to the left of Liberty's right hand

Thoughts on the grade? I believe this to be a very scarce (R6) WB-8. Can any one confirm?

Looks like a lamination error on the rims. while back I sent a seated quarter in to NGC, got details, and then PCGS straight graded.

If surfaces natural, AU53 on the cusp of 55 if the reverse fields were a little better imo

Sorry, I completely forgot I made a thread for this. I soaked it in an airtight container so the verdicsre would not evaporate off the surface.

I actually soaked in di water, like BadThad mentioned. No changes, still the same loss of color. But then I put in a napkin in sunlight to see if the color would return naturally. In a few months Ill post the results.

I got this coin on the cheaper side, so I just chalk it as a small loss. But it is wild, considering I never had an issue with VC. If anything, any coin I treat with Verdicare comes out real nice!

Those black spots, and the color change around them.

I'd conserve the coin and use verdi-care in my opinion.

It's a nice coin, but definitely something going on with the surfaces. Conserving it may help its current state

Looks AU ENV damage. I'd try some verdi-care and see if it'll remove that haze.

I've purchased several times from this seller. One coin I purchased looked cleaned through pictures, but had great fields and cartwheel luster in hand. Another time, purchased a coin with some really nice toning. I submitted that particular coin to a TPG and it graded UNC details cleaned, but the toning was nice enough to ignore the details grade. He has a favorable return policy, so I would use that unless you like the coin.

Agree with Andrew99. Sam S. at Heritage is great to deal with for HA Inventory. Managed to secure a nice piece cheaper than the listed price thanks to him. If you're serious about buying the coin, they'll work with you.

The offer feature is a good idea, but it would be nice to see more responses from the owners. No responses on all of the coins I have sent offers for.

I think this is a 1819/8 Lrge 9 O-102, had it for a long time. Can any one confirm attribution / thoughts on grade? On the fence about submitting it for grading.

If it's damage, very inconsistent of the TPG to not slap a details grade on the coin. The scratches look fairly deep. I've had coins with less damage come back details after submission!

Temperature (heat) speeds up the chemical reaction. Envelopes like Kraft etc are usually not archival. You'd want archival/acid-free flips/envelopes for coins you want to keep from damage or toning in the long term.

Nice to hear Jaobler! I was skeptical that the original owner's bother looking at the offers they receive for auctions complete that long ago.

For what it's worth I sent two offers on two different coins that were purchased 2-3 years ago, no answers.

It is probably best for coins that were recently won; past ones seem to be a crap shoot to get a response.

Assuming the angle of the photos isn't trying to hide anything, it is an AU-55 coin. Au details if they are
