Hello, I was trying to look up the value of an 50 Mils 1935 from British Palestine I have. After a little goggling I learned that they should be .720 silver and have a weight of 5.83 grams.
The problem is, mine is in zinc, weighs 3.72 grams and looks the same. I was hoping someone out there have some information, if it's documented in any books? Because I couldn't find any trail strikes, errors, variants or sales on any of the sites I visited :( |

Looks good to me, don't think they would bother to fake these ones in this state as they are fairly common. Sure if they were in UNC I would take a closer look before buying. Yours have a low grade and have a catalog value of 12-20 usd in VF-XF, but the best thing you can do is to check ebay and search in "Sold listings".
Here is one in UNC, with all the details:

That's the problem, coins like this doesn't come up for sale that often and when they do it boils down to when and where...
The design looks to be in good shape and it almost looks XF-AU, but with problems ofc. Double strikes / overstrikes are very common on most copper coins from Russia to the late 18th and I don't think there will be any "premium" value for double strike, but I can be wrong. There are some VF-XF examples on google that been sold for around 1500-2500 so this chart maybe somewhat wrong, probably not enough of this types out there so the prices can go higher.

The design is from a pattern but the date should be 1825, the same goes for the novodel version. There is a Russian catalog called KOHPOC that has a whole section devoted to "novodels" (30+ pages), a good investment if you collect pre 1900 Russian coinage. Nether a official strike, PN or novodel = fantasy |
