The CAM designation (variety) only is important on 1992 (P), 1992-D, 1998-S, and 1999-S.

Generally most 1922 no-D have weak reverses. Thus, the weak reverse is the normal. One die pair has the strong reverse, thus the the distinction.

It looks to me like it may have been counterstamped at one time, then later someone scratched/etched it out.
