This is a recent pickup that I'm really pleased with. It's a surprisingly weighty coin in hand at 10g
It's a 1632 1 Teston from the rule of Urban VIII - with my favourite heraldic device. If I was ever to specialise on one Papal States ruler I think it would be this one. (ie, if I win the lottery)
VRBAN . VIII . PONT. MAX Papal heraldic achievement
S * PETRVS * ALMA * ROMA Saint Peter seated holding keys
There are two main varieties of this coin with different obverse legends and shield shape - this one being the semi-oval one.

I was going to post this one which does fall under the Papal States category (at least Numista categorise it as such) though isn't issued by a Pope. Hopefully it is within the scope of the thread. The issuing authority is the Roman Senate (1188-1252). The below is the description given on the Numista site but this example seems slightly different. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces155375.html
SENATVS • P • Q • R Senatus Popolusque Romanorum Cross with misshapened omega, point, alpha and star in quarters. Legend around
ROMA CAPVT MVN "S" flanked by two horizontal half moons above comb-like instrument with 11 teeth.

The above example seems to have a sun and moon either side of the central S rather than 2 moons in the upper quadrants of the reverse inner section. (kinda like the Tibetian 5 Sho coins that have variations of sun and moon) |

I wonder if anyone could narrow this down a bit further. The reverse seems double struck so that doesn't help much unless you know what you are specifically looking for but the obverse seems to suggest a "O" character at 5 o'clock. None of the the more common deniers of Achaea seems to fit - list below
Denier - William II :+:G•PRINCEPS. Charles I d'Anjou + • K • R • PRINC' ACh' Florent de Hainaut - +: FLORENS: P: ACh: Isabella + YSABELLA. P. ACh Philip I of Savoy + + DE CLARENCIA + Philip II + PHS. P. ACh TAR. Mathilde de Hainaut + mAhAVTA. P. ACh' John of Gravina "+Ioh'S PACh'E"
The only option on Numista that seems to have an "O" character at 5 o'clock is the 1 Denier Tornese - Martin Zaccaria - but it doesn't seem to work elsewhere either. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces192699.html
Happy to hear any suggestions

While Numista is a fantastic resource - and the amount of detail on it is outstanding - it can be a bit tricky to navigate and search on for older material at times - especially when coverage is not complete.
The next coin I have was apparently minted in Rome - it's a ND (1370-1377) 1 Bolognino issued under Gregory XI. The obverse legend reads GG . PP . VND (Facing bust wearing triregnum) but I'm not entirely sure what all the letters stand for (PP being for Pater Patriae of course). The reverse lettering (+. DE ROMA) at least makes the mint clear.

Many thanks tdziemia for that extra background on the shield shape - very interesting. The obverse of that coin is really very well preserved and the reverse is too though my photo perhaps doesn't highlight that well.
I think I might be on my own now to post a few more. (I also have some that I should have posted earlier but perhaps I can add those on at the end.
Today I can post this one. It's issued under Martin V 1417-1431 at the Papal enclave in southern France - Comtat Venaissin - and minted at Avignon.
The obverse shows a mitre atop two "P" with a column between. The column is the symbol of the Colonna family which is that of Martin V. The reverse has a Cross with mitre and keys repeated in alternation The denomination is a 1/4 Groschen.
