CUBA MUST BE FREE
REMEMBER THE MAINE

This has been posted by another before, likely in better shape as well
I must admit I was surprised at its dime size.

Has our friend and mentor TNG finally "retired" from group participation? I recall many months ago he was making comments to that effect :(

Can we get confirmation about the alloy - bronze or copper. Both metals seem to be used interchangeably.

I think it has been a year since I have added something to my medals collection. I was so taken by the posts from NumisEd and DrDarryl and their Pearl Harbor medals that I went on a hunt to find an eaxmple for my collection.

I turned up a pretty nice example, ungraded, but quite lustrous on the obverse. The reverse shows the mottled appearance as in the post from NumisEd.

This example has the copyright text.

Of all the lovely posts I see here, my favorites are those with an Americana theme.
Thanks Dr.Darryl for posting the link to your story about these medals. I looked and don't het have an example in my collection.

Lovely example NumisEd

TNG - as some of us know that "our whole attitude and outlook on life will change," I pass on to you that this has indeed happened to me. I am no longer old, I am a "man-tique" :)

I did some web-searching re your Harvard-Yale ticket. It seems this is a popular subject and not one for the faint of heart or pocket!

I found "Engraved and Printed by John A Lowell Bank Note Co Boston."

Chopped Triumphs - I know nothing about the subject you posted but I found it interesting to look at. (Does your handle here have anything to do with customized British motorcycles? :)

Bump - medals and tokens that have seen some pocket wear have a charm and character all their own.

My medal activities have been rather dormant other than enjoying the finds posted here.

I did succumb to temptation on this Coca Cola token before the holidays.
It looked like it had seen better days with signs of cleaning, but it was cheap :)

This is a fairly common item, copper plated from what I can tell.
The reference to "Betty" on the obv is of "Betty Boop".
I have read she was an advertising icon for Coke in the early-mid 1900s.

I can always use it as a pocket piece except that I no longer bother carrying change in my pocket.

Happy hunting/shopping everyone.

Caietan - thank you so very much for taking the time to share this image. I agree this could be an image source for the banknote. I wonder if an original print (photo) is available somewhere.

Can someone tell me if the scene on this note is of the Jezreel Valley, another location, or simply symbolic of the Israel orange industry?
