Is this the coin you meant to post? I'm seeing a 1947, not 1955. Coinfrog is correct, this is just damaged. Similar patterns can be created by (de)laminations, but that would just result in lost metal without expanding the coin's diameter and also wouldn't appear on both sides like this. The displaced metal beyond the coin's normal size means that the metal was squeezed out after it was struck. |

Morocco, 5 dirhams, 2002. This would be 10 or 12 points, depending on whether the transition from the ring to the core counts.

In case interrupted or concentric circles aren't allowed, I'll take 5 for this:

Quote: Idk that much about the minting process, tho I doubt there is any part of it that could do this to a coin.
Good thinking. Since that part of the edge is still reeded, it couldn't have been struck in the collar that way. Your coin was hit with some sort of heavy object, though as JimmyD said, there's probably no way to tell exactly what.
Quote: I should research the minting process so I have a better idea what could be an error

We actually see these fairly often. This is acid damage; the copper core is more susceptible to corrosion that the copper-nickel cladding. @Coop has some helpful graphics that show what I mean, so hopefully he'll see this.
In the future, holding your coins with a vise is a big no-no. If it was actually a valuable coin, this could have caused irreparable damage. Just stick to holing them by edge with your fingers. |

I count three cows and 27 sheep. Assuming the cattle and sheep are all female, that should make 32 points (dairy animals + grain + bust). Add one point if the double "2012" date counts and eleven if you would drink pig milk (not my cup of tea) for a maximum of 44 points. |
