Reprocessed and not sure about grease filled die. Looks like a contact mark on the rim right above where the "R" should be. May have been intentionally removed.

It's either environmental or acid damage. Not an error. PMD

Looks like the spike head is listed as SKH-1c-1953S-02 on COC.

Pulled this out of a bank box. Surprised at the condition after all these years.

Found this box in my closet. Not sure when I got it, but all the boxes I get at the bank have "$25 Pennies" I know some of you folks on here will appreciate this.

Is it possible that maybe the dies were initially set up correctly

Apparently not, if they moved out of position.

An error creates a die event and a die event creates an error on the planchet.

Kind of wish Mike would reply to this thread to see what his take is on the subject.

I dip all my circulated zinc LC's, that I want to keep, in acetone before putting in a 2x2. Looking at the coins in the flips 6 years later, they're still nice and shinny with no adverse effects from the Acetone.

I think An error and a die event are interchangeable. An error is a die event. Something happens to the die after the die was made. The die gets chipped, cracked, or clashed, etc. Variety's are something that is on the die when it is first used. At least that's the way I have always thought of it.

Thanks folks. Couldn't think of what it was called or if it was even an error.
