"They were produced to FDC Proof Grade in both Bronze and .925 / 92.5% Sterling Silver, standard Proof coins being accompanied by a Bronze Medallion, and a .925 Silver proof Medallion accompanying .925 Silver Proof sets."
For the gold, I do believe it is probably a gold plated sterling medallion but NOT gold. I found one set listed with this in the description.
"Five-Pounds, Two-Pounds, Sovereign and Half-Sovereign. Presented in the original box with a COA and a gold plated medallion."
To be more sure, I guess I could weigh my gold plated and sterling medallions in these sets and I would bet they are very close in weight as the plating would make little difference. |

I always wondered what metal these things are struck on. There isn't any info on set specifications that I can find on paperwork included with such sets and none to be found online. Anybody know for sure? Please elaborate.

For example
The silver colored medallion in the 1994 - 1997 Silver Proof Piedfort Pound Four Coin Set

and The gold colored medallion in the 1990 United Kingdom Gold Proof Sovereign Four Coin Collection (I suspect this might be gold plated sterling silver by the way it feels)

Updated state of play.... there seems to be the occasional infringement anyone else pick them up? Anyway it's all good, I'm going to let them slide. Is there no end to my benevolence? I see next to my name is highlighted in blue in the chart. Did I do something infringing? If so I apologize but I am not picking anything up either. What went wrong?
