The Royal Canadian Mint has, for a number of years, been making the weird and wonderful and calling them coins. A starship Enterprise shaped coin is a good example. I've given up asking questions, but stick with smiling to myself when the item is seen.

I see that the gold lot shows a container with the RCM logo on it. I wonder if the RCM might distribute their refined gold as granules? Odd that it would end up in Massachusetts. I would have guessed that US customers would get their gold from the US.

Thanks, @Spence. This seems quite plausible given the number of coins with a horse on one side and a square type symbol on the other. Being an imitation you can't expect much precision. In the middle of the square I can sort of see the remnants of bunches of grapes.

it weighs 5.9 grams and is 17-19 mm across.

This also was part of a "shopping channel" lot that was identified as a "bronze Queen Diddi Rani Stater, 979-1003 CE"

It definitely looks like a Kashmir Stater of that period, but I am not sure if the ruler identification is correct. Other sources spell the ruler as Didda Rani.

This weighs 2.2 grams and is 11-13 mm.

It was part of an over-priced "shopping channel" type purchase (not me!) and was identified as "Bronze Danubian Celtic Coin, 1st Century BCE"
but I can find nothing like this in my searches.

According to the estimates in the article, an annual (extra) demand of about 500 million ounces of silver would follow, each vehicle using about 32 ounces of silver in the battery.

American Considering Collecting Canadian Cents

No 1 cent coins were minted after 2012. The vast numbers of existing one cent coins were supposed to be taken to banks to get redeemed and ultimately destroyed, and it didn't take long before merchants stopped accepting them. That is still taking place but on a very small scale now compared to 2012. Huge quantities still remain in collections and hoards, and my guess is that will still be the case decades from now. I therefore doubt that most will ever be worth much. The Canadian large 1 cent was withdrawn in the 1930s but there are still plenty of the common dates available.

Excluding a few varieties, most of the cents from 1937 to 2012 can be obtained for very little. You could probably buy a nearly complete set from a dealer for 5 cents a piece, if you settle for average circulated condition. Certainly my LCS will sell them for that little as they are always getting collections.

A few years ago one of our members in the US assembled a complete collection with the help of some Canadian members. You have enough posts so consider posting in the buy or trade section of the forum.

Also, thoughts on trying for a 17th Century version @mmm?

We could try for a shorter version: Divide the century into 20, 25 or 50 parts.

Replacement possibilities for me:

Prussia: 1782 and 1774 to replace 1776
hesse-darmstadt 1774 to replace 1733
Munster 1743 to replace 1703

Saxe-Eisenach from 1731. Not the same as Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach!

I regret to inform everyone that this is the last one that I can find.

Perhaps something will come up when we start replacing years.

@Machin, my "one coin from every country" is a key collecting area. This means potentially hundreds of German states, etc. to collect. While I am far from this, I still have lots, and this thread is a perfect opportunity to show a few off.

@Machin, I have an archbishopric of Cologne for 1745, if you want to play again your province of Holland for 1766!

Also, I have a 1743 from the city of Hamm (no, the food was not invented here), that I can replace for 1743 for Hungary, if someone has another date, and

a 1721 from Sitten if someone can replace the Spain entry.

Get one with the best portrait. I know that many prefer the silver ones, but I prefer the large copper/ bronze ones because the size of the flan gives a better and bigger likeness.
