I found many of them on Heritage.
They don't look that rare to me. The example you found for $402 is a different note. Link to Heritage - https://currency.ha.com/c/search/re...14#362-42181

A 32-note sheet is cut in half after the 1st and 2nd print, just before the 3rd print of the overprinting of the seals and serial numbers. The plate position on the note is H2, putting it at the bottom right corner of the sheet after being cut.

The fold you see running diagonally through the portrait happened before the overprint, causing the right side seal and serial number to miss the note altogether, and the final upper and lower trimming cut off the overhanging corner.

Cool error note. Personally, I'd have it authenticated and graded if it was mine.

Thanks for the link to your note.

Over at PMG, they have 7 graded 64EPQ, 8 graded 65EPQ, 10 graded at 66EPQ and 2 graded at 67EPQ

I wasn't aware that the PCGS Banknote company had a population report. Please provide a link to it for us.

Welcome to CCF.
Great first post and awesome error note. I would value it at least $1K, maybe more if authenticated and encapsulated by either PCGS or PMG. Thanks for sharing.

As CoolBreeze mentioned, the Chicago district is the most popular of the 1934A $1,000 FRNs. These were once available for a modest premium over face value. But recently, $500 and $1,000 have gained popularity and even an example like this will sell for approximately double face value. I highly recommend having it graded and encapsulated by either PMG or PCGS.

I remember this set. I had every example except districts A, C and D. They were all series 2003A and all of them came with random end numbers. In other words, nothing matched except the 4 starting numbers. These were for hard core modern note collectors. Unfortunately, these BEP issued sets typically don't fare well in the marketplace. My guess is they just weren't fancy enough, same as the Lucky Money sets.

Good looking addition Helder.
Odd denomination, wonderful engraved vignettes, interesting fonts and the bright red "Three" protector. Congratulations bud.

The general rule of thumb for a note to officially be considered an error is, a portion of an adjoining note must be visible in one, or more of the margins. And unfortunately, I'm not seeing it. Now that's not to say that someone on eBay or somewhere else might pay a premium for it, but I wouldn't expect too much given the note's overall condition.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Welcome to CCF.
I agree with Helder. The serial numbers are interesting, but far from fancy.

Both are circulated, with the $5 note being in rough shape.
I would value the $1 note between $15-$25 and a bit less for the $5. Radars and Repeaters are two of the most abundant fancy serial numbered notes available.

Copy and pasted from a duplicate thread.

The top two notes, PF82888828A and H09900990B are both Radar notes and the only two notes that are considered fancy. The remaining notes might garner minor interest on ebay, but nothing to write home about. I'd like to see photos of these before voicing an opinion on price.

You're correct about the printing process. The green, intaglio back is printed first. The black, intaglio front is second and the black and green overprint that includes the Treasury seal, serial numbers, Fed.seal and indicators are third and last.

The green ink used on the back is different than the green ink used for the Treasury seal and serial numbers. It's formulated completely different. The picture quality is poor, but it appears that whatever environmental or chemical trauma that affected the black ink on the front didn't affect the green ink used for the seal and serial numbers. I'm fairly confident that this happened after it left the BEP.

Your best tool is your eyes. By carefully comparing a suspicious note alongside a genuine note, you'll be able to see the differences in the engraving details. I recommend that you always start with the portrait. Counterfeiters seem to always struggle with getting the portrait correct.

I believe it's spurious.
The portrait lacks definition, like it's out of focus.

It appears to be some sort of post-BEP trauma, mostly because it's on a fold line. And we all know that new, uncirculated paper money is not folded.

Looks like it might be a partial up ladder.
It's interesting, but it has no additional value.
