I'd argue that RAM was perhaps more laid back in 1990s. This also coincides when the Australian economy was not doing very well. It would not be strange for some rouge employees to strike some fancy mint sports to make a few extra bucks. A lot of these unusual errors that I have seen are from early 1990s.

There was a pretty interesting error coin sold by IAG

Australia 1992 2 dollars overstruck over Philippines 10 sentimo. That went for 4,500!

That's not how the holey and dump coins were created! If I recall reading somewhere, the counterstamp on the holey would not let the dump back in the same position.

There are a few different types of the holey and dump issued. Believe there is the bicentenary version too.

There are some 'common' Aussie rotated error coins

These are two:

May not be the best condition but it's pretty nice to find them from circulation!

Not sure if this error is known in this catalog. Finding two error coins is amazing!

Quite common and affordable. One of the easier overstruck coins to find.

Might be better off looking for another example.

At best this might be an ex-jewellery. Still doesn't look good...

This would be signs of die clash. This year is not known for overstrike and is unlikely.

Weight variance for this particular coin can vary drastically as mentioned by Hondo.

I'm a bit sceptical.

What is the weight of the first coin and what does the edge look like?

There is a reason why this coin is demonitized - these were heavily counterfeited.

Mintage for most 2 dollar coin coins are around the 2 million mark. Time will tell if the mintage differs.

As for the scarcity of finding them in circulation, I suspect it might come down to geographic location of where the coins were released. I found the firefighting and Vegemite coins difficult to find.

Damaged. Perhaps found on the road after cars run over asphalt.

Wow! Nice coins.

Can't say if it's proof or proof like but I think they are definitely better than normal UNC strike.

If price is right, I would buy them.

Here's a 1870 yen. One year type

This is the yen issued in later years

You have a trade dollar which was struck for 3 years

And finally a gold yen

I have yet to find one in circulation.

If the mintage is correct as shown in the RAM site (160,000) - this would be the lowest Aussie mintage circulation coin! (assuming the 1992 MOR does not exist)

1870 yen is struck with the sun ray on the reverse, not this wreath.

Details look wrong too

I guess double struck error can happen with hand struck.

It's hard to find Iran coins from this era.

I don't see this as a mule. This is quite commonly seen in 1985 dollar.
