My confusion is beyond the pale. I just got back a shipment of about a dozen coins sent to ICCS - In record time! Absolute props for how fast they're doing things these days. Key to this shipment were two coins, a 1955 Fu Manchu - which, when I received it, proceeded to fall right out of the certification sleeve because of a failed heat seal , and the following 1858 5 cent coin, which in my eye, seemed like an obvious large date. It's very possible that I'm the one making the mistake here, but I'd like the forum's input on this! Thanks! LRC

Hello all,
Ran into this interesting token today, it is silver dollar sized and looks to be pewter, maybe with a silver wash. "8" reminds me of a potential 8 real face value, but that's more a guess than anything else! Both faces are identical but flipped in coin orientation. Does anyone have any information about it, its origins, or the mine it would have been made for? Thanks!

There is no objective truth in coin grading. There are only opinions. Some people sell you coins, other people sell you their guaranteed opinions. The coin dealer was one of the former, not the latter, and, in his opinion, the coin was MS 62. You have now paid for and receive some one else's guaranteed opinion on the same coin. This is a rhetorical question, but, why would you hold to the same standard someone whose business model is to give opinions, and someone whose business model is to sell you coins? As almost everyone here will tell you, buy the coin, not the holder. If you were happy with the coin before, be happy with it now. Break it out of the slab if the "details" annoys you.

Update, Well it's that time of year again when students move out of their summer abodes and into winter residence. Unfortunately for me, that meant that my return address on the NGC shipment was not going to be valid for much longer!
In seeking a solution to this impasse, I called customer support last Friday, and at least NGC has impeccable response times! I was directed to simply send a customer support ticket specifying the new address in writing through their online system. A rather painless process it turns out, following a quick message, I found a courteous and positive reply back in a matter of hours in my email inbox.
Even more exciting was the fact that I was told on the phone that my submissions were in "quality control" and therefore likely to be "shipped out that same day, or at worst Monday"!
As of Wednesday, August 25th, 2022: No movement. The wait continues.
