Santa dropped by today!

Some really cool stuff; silver war nickels, Kennedy's, some DDR's, brand new 2021D quarters and some confetti!

Thanks Santa!

Has Anyone Else Noticed A Drop In Coinstar Finds?

Hey all,

So, if I go through my collection's 2x2's I see a lot of silver coins marked with a year and 'CS' for Coinstar. I've noticed that since 2019 my finds have not just dropped a little, they've dropped precipitously. I have actually not found one silver coin in a Coinstar since 2019 and I check every time I go into several different locations. I live in the SF Bay Area, so coin-roll hunting for silver has always been a bit dry, but the Coinstar's were still paying out until 5 years ago.

What happened?

About this time every year, the local news mentions that someone donated a rare gold coin to one of the Salvation Army's Bell Ringers' bucket. I think its admirable of people that can give-back to the less-fortunate. If I were financially able to, I would absolutely do something similar to one your scenarios.

I know it sounds kind of crazy to spend a $5 gold piece on coffee. Although, I'm sure if any of us were rich enough to do so flippantly we would perform such an action in one form or another.

I would assume that if you believe a topic is beneath you to reply to you would do just that, ignore it. Instead, you have taken the time to not only bring a fellow CCF member down but also bring up your post count.

If you don't want to participate then don't. It would then be on me to recognize that my post wasn't well thought through and post more qualifying posts in the future. Replying like this does not encourage others to share or help us grow.

Hey all,

Sometimes I wonder and pontificate on the idea of spending something like a $5 gold coin to buy a coffee. I play the idea out in my head and wonder what would happen. Would the cashier be intelligent and swap it out? Would they have no idea what they're looking at and say they can't accept it? Would they put it in the register for some other lucky individual to find?

Does anyone else ever think about this?

Let me know your thoughts!

Hey all,

I know I promised new photos yesterday and I apologize for not posting them. I work 12.5 hour shifts over-night 3 or 4 days a week and when I get home I usually just pass out until I have to repeat the cycle. Please bear with me I will update asap

Hey all,

I found this going through my collection last night and wondered if I am correct in assuming it is a 1955 s/s/s?
Let me know your thoughts? The black marks on it are a bit frustrating but can't be helped. Apologies for the poor photos, I'll try and take some better ones and upload them tomorrow.

Hey all,

I recently acquired a PCGS sample slab. These are totally new to me. I read some people collect these but are they really worth anything? Alone the coin is only like 15$, but supposedly in this sample case it's worth more? Anyone have any insights into the history of this?

Thanks! Bought it in a bundle for $1550, along with 2 Morgans, 1g gold, 2 fancy 1oz silver bullion pieces, a bucketful of random stuff, a pcgs sample slab (1959 ms62 dime) and some other random slabs.

Hey all,

Just got this new coin in today and it came in a slightly older holder. Does anyone see any signs they would make them question the authenticity? I may just be being paranoid but it looks like there's small cracks in the plastic from the side. Here's some images, I wish I could compare to pcgs website but there's no images of this individual piece as it's older.

Coin in case weighs 47.192g

The first thing that struck me about this coin is the font used for '25 CENTS'. It's very unique, I'm not sure if I like it or not

His face really has an interesting skeletal aspect, which is kind of perfect for this time of year.

I would like to add, very nice shots!

Randomly was clicking through JBuck's links and now I have to 'Necro bump' the thread, considering his last reply
