Fantastic toning. Obverse chatter might hold it to MS-64? Are those reed marks on the neck, or is it a scratch?

On a quick glance, I'm not seeing anything special about this Benjamin.

Good, honest wear on a tough date. Price seems more than reasonable.

Hard to tell. I'm inclined to agree with @errers, but I wouldn't spend it yet, either.

@brand — good question. I pulled my 2024 mintage numbers from: https://www.usmint.gov/about/produc...s-production

Final mintage for 2024 was just under 37 million for Philly and less than 33 million for Denver. 2025 nickel mintage is already above 100 million for both mints.

Hard to tell what's going on with the vertical lines on the neck and lower face. Scratches?

I'm in the paint/stain camp, but I've been wrong many times. If you ever had a bulk TPG submission, you could send it in for grins.

Agree with all of the above. Been finding lots of AU and better bicentennial quarters in circulation the last few years as folks realize they won't ever carry a premium.

Circulation flattening, plus filled mintmarks are common on coins of this era—late 1970s into the 1980s.

The metal in the presumed fake coins appears to be very soft and possibly porous, and design details are very "mushy."

Looks like all circulation damage. The date issue may be smearing of metal.

Pretty cool homemade "error." Good observation by @Spence about the torquing or twisting on the reverse.

Mintage for the 2025 cents isn't as low as we'd hoped it would be — now listed by the U.S. Mint as 510 million for Philadelphia and 413.4 million for Denver.

Not to beat a dead horse, but a weight would be useful here — should be about 5.7 grams for a 1974 quarter.

Even if it was once plated, it would be an after-market (worthless) collectible, released into the wild many years ago.
