What about the mark in the middle of the shield? Is that just a spec of dirt, or something else? |

Thanks Rick,
I's just curious as to how the contact marks/scruffiness of the coin would effect the grade. Knowing of your knowledge with Lincolns helps immensely as well--in other words, I hold your opinion in very high regards. I have little knowledge of actual grading, but would like to learn more--I just have very little time to do so. Being a Realtor really cuts into the time every now and then. Thanks again! |

Thanks for the info guys, I've pretty much got a good idea of what the difference is between machine & hub doubling; however, there are some instances where it's just not possible (for me) to tell the difference. This happens to be one of them. I'll need to search through the posts and find out what people are using for magnification purposes--I know I read one regarding a computer-ready microscope. This would help me immensely, as well as you, for picture purposes. If anyone knows of any good (yet inexpensive--yes, an oxymoron) microscopes which are computer-compatible, please let me know!
Thanks again for your time!

Thanks guys, I didn't know there actually were DD's for the 97's. I went on coppercoins' site and couldn't find any... Does anyone have a pic of the doubled ear? Or the other DD? Again, I'll try and take some better pictures asap--I'm pretty sure of what machine doubling is, but just can't tell without taking pictures through the loupe.
Thanks again! |

Don't have a clue on this one--just noticed it tonight, and it definitely looks like a double. Hard to tell from just one pic, I need to stop by toys-r-us & snag one of those microscopes! lol--soon.
The whole "In God We Trust" appears to have doubling (in-hand, of course). Will try to get better pics soon!

It sounds like the seller just chose the wrong option--he should have chosen 'Other' for reasons to mutually withdraw. Seems like a simple mistake on his part, but I can understand where you're coming from--I returned something I never received...hmmmm.. |
