Like others have mentioned, they are pretty easy to spot. Especially noticeable in the last O in Monticello. There's also a quadruple die reverse on the 1939, but my old eyes haven't found one yet.
Quote: Not from the US Mint they didn't. 3rd party plated garbage is still garbage.
Well said. I have a few that came in mixed lots I purchased off Ebay. They went straight to my change cup waiting to be rolled. There is some sort of corrosion showing on them even with the plating.
Quote: The State Quarters had a limited run with gold plated coins.
No, they didn't. Many companies took quarters and gold plated them and sold them in sets. They also did this with platinum. (no connection to the US Mints and they were hardly limited production)
Sent a Best Offer for $20.50 shipped on folder of 52 Buffalos that was accepted. No acid dates, a couple out of place which I corrected. Did pretty well for $20 as there are some scarcer dates with a second each of 1914S and 1931S.
Quote: Is someone here able to have the auction shut down?
Highly unlikely. The counterfeit reporting forum was shut down because the contact at Ebay retired. You can try reporting it yourself, as others have tried getting listings removed, but Ebay's artificial intelligence knows everything nothing* about numismatics and you'll get nowhere fast.
It will probably end up being cheaper, depending on your source, to buy the sets, and either resell the loose coins you don't need, or turn them loose into the wild.
Quote: I wonder how hard it is the get a 1976-D Type 1 from circulation?
Ten years ago when I was roll searching halves, I would ask for Ikes also. Once in awhile I would come across some. The 1976 type 2 were always more plentiful than the type 1 (but the type 1 D was easier to find than the type 1 P). If I'm not mistaken the type 1 D had a higher mintage than the P)
Nice One! It's been 10 years since I roll searched nickels but I'm still amazed at the good stuff I pulled, and people continue to pull from boxes of nickels.
Quote: Why not 2 or 5 dollar coin? A dollar doesn't go as far as what it used to anyway.
The persons "We The People" elect into office can't even figure out what it takes to get us to use a dollar coin. Once they figure that out, maybe we can do that.
Quote: Not too thrilled with the cent and nickel designs but I love the Dime O-03 both obverse and reverse.
Agree on all accounts. But at least it looks like they plan on doing something with the dime, nickel and cent....something they failed to do with the Bicentennial.
