The $1 1923 Silver Certificate. This one I went back and forth between Q and no Q. The note was in CU shape with no folds, but it had a small stain/mark on the obverse on the lower right hand margin and a small mark on the observe on the front. Otherwise the paper was original. I had it at 80% being 64 and 20% being 64 Q. I looked at a few 64Q with corresponding marks so I assumed it had a chance. But if I was a gambler I would have gone with the odds and picked 64, which is what it came back as.

The graded notes!!! The first one up is the $2 solid star error. This one I graded to be 66Q. I had no other grade. The note was very nice, but it wasn't nice enough to be 67Q. And based on the grades many agree.
This is also my first and only error note. For those interested:
On modern notes, the star is not supposed to be a solid color; the center is supposed to have no ink. Sometimes, however, excess ink will create a star that looks solid, resulting in a Solid Star Error

Once a slab is broken you know it's broken.
You should also take high quality pictures of your coins. You can easily tell when a coin is replaced, but in the scheme of things worrying about someone replacing your coin in a slab is like winning the lottery, neither are going to happen do you. |

Quote: But I have a question. Have you complicated your task by adding gold?
@Slerk, yes I am complicating my task, but I haven't purchased the missing coins that I was missing and I wasn't planning on buying them, but I have wanted the gold coins. So if going to buy a coin anyway why not add them to my type set? |

This is a pretty nice coin. I would also say AU. The scratch may details the coin though. While this coin would look nicer dipped, the scratch maybe more apparent. Value could be $45-$75. I would probably pass as it's way too dark for me. |

While the OP makes valid points, I don't agree that its so clear cut. Here are 3 coins.
The first is a 1909 S VDB

The reason to get this one slabbed are: 1) There are many counterfeits 2) Value increases with grade steeply 3) Easier ability to sell
As the 1909 S VDB is heavily counterfeited and its value increases quickly because of grade, this makes it a good candidate for slabbing.
Next coin is the 2019 S ERP.

As you can see its raw, while it's value is comparable to the 1909 S VDB. So why is it raw? We'll I purchased it from the mint. I have 2. And I have no plans to sell them, so why pay to get them graded. I'm pretty certain one is PF69, the other is PF70. I have no real reason to get them graded, so they stay raw.
Last coin is a 2010 Gold AGE.

This is a total waste to get graded. There is no value increase between Raw and MS69, only the MS70 has a small increase. So why buy it graded? Because there was $0 difference in cost. This coin was Spot + $100 (prices have gone up a little since then), but if RAW and Slabbed are the same price why buy raw? You are getting the benefit of a verified coin.
As to using CCF for grading, that depends, a lot of people can't grade. And most people take terrible pictures, also in the higher grades its very hard to differentiate between high grades.
In the end the best advice is not to trust TPG's, learn to grade and you'll be better $$$$ for it.
