Hello all. I find myself leaning on your experience and expertise in this area of coin collecting. I found this 1982-D quarter in change given back to me. It definitely falls under the circulated category but is this a broadstuck coin or is what has happened along the outer part of the coin's faces/sides due to years of wear? Any input would be appreciatively welcomed. Thanks.

Hello everyone. I found this quarter in pocket change. It has its obvious signs of being well circulated but as far as its color, can anyone maybe give me their experienced based opinion on whether this quarter has somehow possibly lost its clad layers or if its just cool toning. It scales out at 5.66g which I believe pushes it towards the notion of it being toned but I sure would like the input of other, much more experienced pairs of eyes. Thanks!

ABSOLUTELY MY BAD!! From a father of only two children, both daughters, and a grandfather of one grandchild, a granddaughter, whom Ive always repeatedly told them that there is nothing that they cannot do & I would support them however the chose, I certainly inserted foot into mouth beautifully. My deepest apologies. #128542; |

I appreciate the time you invested with your replies. And I'm sorry I didnt clarify sufficiently that all pics are of the same coin, just at diff angles in order to display the diagonal lines that appear on both the Rev. & Obv. Thats on me. Now that I am at it, I might as well ask a question that has been on my mind for a minute now. Why do some of the newer State & ATB qtrs appear to have a goldish color, apart from the obvious gold plated ones that have made their way into circulation? Like this 2020, for example. How does a clad qtr tone so quickly? isn't toning or the formation of patina a slower process that is completed over a longer period of time? Again, thank you for any time you invest with providing answers your experience can hand out. I'm sure you guys know a thing or two cuz you've certainly seen a thing or two. |

Amen to that. I'm old enough to actually remember when you could actually buy something with one shiny little quarter. Good times..thanks for all the input. I'll get learned up real good on this stuff one day. Til then, glad I have somewhere to filter my questions. Thanks again. |

I appreciate all the feedback. I really was heavily leaning towards this outcome but I figured it wudnt hurt to run it by some eyes who have seen a thing or two. I consciously make the decision to not spend an inordinate amt of time looking at any one coin for that reason..look long enough & you'll convince yourself something is there. It just happened that the imposter #7 was the first thing that caught my eye. I really do appreciate the posts. Thanks again. |

Haha..don't blame me for any future hangover. #128565; I'm just a messenger. #128556; But I was leaning towards the uncanny coincidence but just wondered how others who have been around the block more times than me thought bout it. Thanks for taking the time to post. I appreciate it |

Once again, I find myself in need of experienced individuals who possess an immeasurable amt more of knowledge in this subject than I do. I found this 1970 S nickel in pocket change. It definitely has its share of circulation scars and environmental damage & is in rougher shape than would prefer. I acknowledge that. But curiosity grabbed me when I looked at the reverse & on the right side of the Monticello, there was what I thought looked like a number 7. Could that be a "drop 7" or is it by mere chance the dings on the coin just happened to occur in spots which made it look like the numeral 7? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey guys, I know I dropped the ball, being wide open & uncovered in the endzone, with 4th down & goal to go in the final Quarter (Pun intended) by not posting my gratitude for any input given on my last post. No excuses. I dont accept them from my kids nor should any one accept one from me. So thats on me. But I really do appreciate any input from those who have more experience in any matter. The only thing that separates knowledge from wisdom is experience.
Nevertheless, I found this quarter, 2012-D Hawaii Volcanoes, in the $10 I rec'd from the change machine at the carwash, of all places. It looks like its been struck thru grease, Obverse..maybe? Has anybody seen such toning on a relatively new qtr like this? Does it increase value or it just another, yet pretty looking, 25 cents?
Any input bout it would be happily received. Thanks.
