If the coin is as nice in-hand as the top two pics, it's a lock for a 65. Am I seeing planchet striations or is that on the mylar?

BTW, I also have a roll of 71-D Ikes on the way. Hope I am as lucky as you.

A nice Ike. The reed marks on the forehead and the hit under EPU hold it just under 65 for me. Agreed that chatter is not PMD.

@Cujohn 6 or 7 in one BU roll? That's the mother lode. I am happy with just one. I do like this particular RPM because it is so noticeable without much magnification.

@CentSation, you are correct. It's the half that I went for. The dealer had this labeled as "large date" (which it is), so the price was not inflated. Had he looked closer...

I picked up a rather clean looking 1970 unc set at a local coin show, primarily to upgrade the half in my daughter's Kennedy album. When I looked at the other coins, I found I stumbled upon a bonus. Really nice RPM-001 on the large date cent. I've heard others have pulled this out of mint sets, but it's the first I've come across.

Sorry about the glare and the color in the photos. I haven't extracted this from the old pliofilm pack just yet.

Nothing out of the ordinary here. All I am seeing is another disappointing Type 1 Ike from a troubled 1975 mint set.

I agree it is not worth getting graded. In fact, I'm an Ike nut and I'd take a hard pass on this coin.

And you are correct. This is an amazing hobby. Welcome to our world.

I know what you're saying there, jbuck. This is one I still need for my slabbed Ike collection. The ones I find either cost way too much or are not visually appealing coins. Good luck on landing your Ty 3.
